I imagine you are Thai, as I doubt that any non-Thai would try to defend the indefensible, so very much a part of Thai culture. So you wouldn't understand the need to use English for foreign guests.

A Jock that happens to have gotten Thai citizenship and drunk the kool aid.

But somehow, the narrative is that only one race is racist

Has anyone said that, or is it only in your imagination? This is a Thai-centric forum, with discussion about Thailand. Perhaps you are are unable to understand that. But it was your first post, so you have plenty of time to learn.

Ignored.  Last comment you'll hear from me. If you can't play by the rules, go elsewhere.

I never suggested such equivalence in the slightest, I was pointing out that when you move to another country it is common decency to learn the language, and can be rather important at times, saving your life.

How do you think Thailand would fare with that arrogant insistence, particularly given the large additional degree of difficulty through having an alphabet peculiar only to itself?

And where does he think Thailand would be without all the things that foreigners have invented and Thais adopted. Like everything. Absolutely everything. Thais have not invented a single thing that is used in the world. Nothing. Nothing at all.

As far as lies go, that is up there with "There will not be a coup" !

These fellas couldn't lie straight in bed !

No lies here, just alternative truths.

What about double pricing in the national parks?

Before you all get excited and pop an artery , this is not about you , by foreigners they are talking about migrant labor ie Cambodian and Burmese and Laotian

I though they where illegal aliens rounded up after a contract is finished sometimes unpaid.

Burmese can be cover for local crime.

What about that energy drink used when in need of extra power and for a night out partying, you know that stuff called Red Bull, it gives you wings. Okay Red Bull was  based on Krating Daeng and was worked into its current product by an Austrian and Chaleo Yoovidhya the original inventor of the Krating Daeng to make it into the Red Bull we see now, but it was done in Thailand.

And, as you and Wiki says, it was only a local drink until it was refined and marketed properly by an Austrian. If it was left to a Thai.......

Paging doctor Strangelove, paging doctor Strangelove, some fellers managed to break out of the psychiatric ward and are now giving press conferences imitating sane people.

Don't know about others, but for the 30 odd years i have been living in this country i have always felt like a second class person and always "a Gust" here and the treatments were in-kind of a second class person...

I have to say, I have thought we are getting a perspective on the treatment of non-whites in some Euro centric nations, e.g. the USA, and I well remember my UK relatives remarking about "<deleted>".

Interesting that the sobriquet for "Worthy Oriental Gentleman" is disallowed.????

They don't even care about the majority of Thai's

You have to be of the "right" lineage and social stature

? Han?

So why do they need to make that statement, then?

What's more important, retired foreigners living in their penthouse in Sakhon Nakhon with their 50k a month or temporary unemployed working foreigners getting 8k a month?

<deleted>, retirees get lots of benefits from the govt. already. How many countries do you know where foreigners can retire so easily and comfortably?

As a Thai, if I want to retire to the USA, I need to invest 16,000,000 baht. USA people coming here need to pay 1,900 baht a year and show they have enough funds to survive.

Show us where somebody on 50,000 baht can afford a penthouse.

A quick look shows they go for around 75,000 and up.

If you are a retiree you have to prove 65,000/month.

There is no price difference based on one's race at international hospitals. If there was, it would be against the Constitution. Bar stool myth me thinks.

I don't know about "International" hospitals. I do lnow that the Thai government hospital in Sattahip, Queen Sirikit, has a prominently displayed notice in the waiting area that foreigners will be charged double for basic fee.

Interested to know where this is stated in the Constitution.

"Thailand's Labour Minister Suchart Chomklin has assured the press that the policies of Thai PM Prayuth Chan-ocha and his deputy DMP Prawit Wongsuwon do not discriminate against foreigners in any way."

If this is a statement of truth and integrity, the following statements are therefore also embedded in truth and integrity:

- that's just a cold sore baby, don't worry

- I'll still love you in the morning

- you hansum man and I love you long time

But the immigration is kicking people out despite you have tourist visa or educational visa.

This is due to your nationality, not your skin colour.

Some posts trolling about bar stools have been removed.

Some other unrelated posts and replies have been removed.

Yeah, that's what you lot say when you need something from them dirty foreigners. Otherwise, foreigners are blamed for almost anything and everything - including why you didn't have your no. 2 this morning. Out with it now - what do you all want this time?

Almost certainly the precursor to an attempt to ponce some more decent vaccines for "boosters for their people". All those soldiers, policemen and civil servants may be getting a bit humpy at having been given what is turning out to be a bit second best...

The Thai government charge more for foreigners to enter National Parks and Monuments (e.g. Grand Palace) than they charge Thais.

The most hilarious dodge I have heard this year, and I've heard them all.  Discrimination is written right into their constitution. The lack of national insight is astonishing.

Thanks. I tried to point that out earlier but it just falls on deaf ears. The Thai bashing whiners are up in arms because of the inaccurate headline translation. Ridiculous to be calling the man a liar when they haven't a clue what the story is really about.

It's local discount, not charging anyone more. It happens in most Western countries too.
