Expats living in Thailand

Featured Replies

Has the Government issued any recent figures regarding the number of non Asean foreigners, living in Thailand, working or retired compared to pre 2020 numbers?

A lot has been stated as to the lower foreign tourist figures upon the economy. But what about the long stay expats?

UK Embassy published figure last week of 49,000 British Thai Residents......

Sure like to know how that number was worked out and if it's been given to them by the immigration authority detailing retirement, working, etc , visas issued. If not , I seriously doubt that figure

Internet figures (no sources) of 55,000 Brits 3 years ago and 85,000 before that (no year). Certainly declining, probably in favour of Malaysia or Portugal perhaps ....?

Yearly figures about nationals who are registered at their respective embassies.

Belgian embassy said 3,200 but they are plenty more who are living here and keeping an official address back home.

Not really visa related. Move to the pub for further discussion.
