Former revenue chief and senior official get life for ฿3bn illegal tax refund

Former Revenue Department Director-General Sathit Rangkhasiri and a former Bangkok-based senior revenue official, Siripong Riyakarnthirachote, were sentenced to life in prison by the Criminal Court for Corruption and Misconduct Cases today (Thursday), for approving about three billion baht in tax refunds to 25 companies in 2012 and 2013.

PHUKET: The Phuket City Municipality Fresh Market 1 on Ranong Rd in the heart of Phuket Town, and the Downtown Market located on the opposite side of the road, reopened today (Aug 19) after a spate of more than 100 infections saw a seven-day lockdown of the immediate area.

Phuket boutique hotel operators plea for amnesty extension

PHUKET: A total of 20 members of the Phuket Boutique Accommodation Consortium (BAC) yesterday filed a formal request pleading for the government to extend the amnesty to upgrade their hotels in order to be registered under the Hotels Act.

Kanchanaburi encroachment: 5 star floating resort owner agrees to move and avoid jail

Thailand’s economy staring at recession at year-end

The Thai economy rebounded in the second quarter, growing by 7.5 percent year on year, after a 12.1 percent contraction during April-June last year. The high economic growth in the second quarter compared to the same period last year is the result of an unusually low base, and is not an accurate reflection of the economic reality.

Thai PM urged to review suspension of deal to buy 8.5 million China-made ATKs

Ostland Capital, the firm which won the bidding to supply the Government Pharmaceutical Organization (GPO) with 8.5 million rapid antigen test kits (ATKs), worth almost 600 million baht, has asked Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha to reconsider his instruction to the GPO that the ATKs must be approved by the World Health Organization (WHO).

BANGKOK (Reuters) - Thailand's passed the 1 million mark in coronavirus cases on Friday, 97% of which were recorded in the past five months, as the country struggles to boost vaccinations and get on top of one of Asia's most severe COVID-19 outbreaks.

PHUKET: Region 8 Police Deputy Commander Col Sompong Thiparpakul, who previously served as Chief of the Phuket City Police, has been discharged from the Royal Thai Police after being found swindling police allowances for extra work performed in battling the COVID-19 pandemic.
