And again.  When will they understand the seriousness of this pandemic?

Koh Phangan has seen an increase in complaints against “stubborn” foreigners who ignored covid-19 restrictions. Yesterday, officials broke up a gathering of more than ten foreigners who were drinking and eating on Laem Niet beach https://ch3plus.com/news/program/254534… #Thailand

Just watched a news story on Channel 36 of a Thai man who was vaccinated twice with Sinovac, then went to the US and was double vaccinated with Moderna, he then returned here and obtained his 5th vaccination, a booster of Pfizer.  What the hell is wrong with people, 5 vaccines in 6 months.  He must be really scared of getting the virus while many here still have no vaccinations, this is a sad reality and tells us that if you have money then you can do what you want and need to stay safe.....

Sounds like a guy in a fortunate financial situation who took control of his own personal circumstances and instead of moaning about the lack of certain types of vaccine available, decided what he thought was best for his own body and took the appropriate action.

What is your problem with that ?

I think a gradual easing of lockdown measures is appropriate now. Let people decide for themselves by giving them a level of autonomy and personal responsibility. That way, those who wish to get on with their lives can do so with what they consider to be the appropriate degree of caution. Those who wish to remain in lockdown for another 6-12 months are also free to do so.

Well said. It's beyond time to put this sorry episode behind us.

Getting about 13-15K walk-ins daily. It is known that with Delta houshold spread is 100%. You would therefore expect a very high rate of positives amongst all close contacts of walk-in positives. Daily infection numbers, however, does not support this hypothesis.

Because they're not testing would be my thought.

You do love to Bait me.  Ok I will bite.  Nothing wrong with him using his money to get to the US and be vaccinated with a MRNA vaccine at all since he had Sinovac before.  The issue is that he took a booster shot of Pfizer away from someone who could have really used it, and as he had just returned from the US a month ago after being vaccinated with his second Moderna vaccine.  Did he really need the booster shot, or because of his Hi-So nature and status did he game the system.  What good will the booster do for him since the Moderna he had been given in the US had probably not even truly kicked in, and someone in need such as a medic or elderly Thai person unvaccinated could have used it instead.  One hopes he does not have any medical complications as time goes on.

It’s not baiting it’s a question. Stop being so sensitive and over reacting.

One assumes he paid for his Moderna shot same as others are enlisting to do the same.  Yes he was selfish in that sense.

Should all foreigners not take the Sinovac offered and leave the Moderna to front line Thais or the vulnerable unvaccinated Thais too?

Are they not also being a little selfish?

China tested 11 million in Wuhan in less than a week. I get your point.

So they say. They also say no new infections, blah blah. Not a hater just haven’t got time for face-saving governmental BS and Thailand’s is right up there.

Well, he's sure not afraid of vaccines...

Mississippi should throw him a ticker tape parade.  With Thailand's population they would have 119000 cases/day, highest in the world.

Latest data shows almost 9% of population have received both doses whilst 30% have now had their first jab

Current predictions are, at the current rate of vaccinations, that 70% of the population will be fully vaccinated by the beginning of January.

I'm not a huge fan of this page, for a variety of reasons, not limited to the fact that it was last updated on 19 August. And it seems to forecast based on the recent run-rate.

In order to meet the 1 Jan 2022 target of 50 mm people with 100 mm doses, they've got to AVERAGE 561,500 doses PER DAY. They did 206,820 yesterday.

My only point was that they can't vaccinate their way out another potential wave. Luck? Sure? Amulets? Always.

Not what they said but BBC. There are many international reporters in China and they reported same. Live with it.

What is stupid is creating a special category for prisoners.

Always this Thai complex to unnecessarily complicate simple data, perhaps to appear scholarly.

They do that for epidemiological modelling. Prisoners spread differently as do worker camps. Standard practice around the world. You need a different equation for each group, then add them together.  Thus you need separate numbers.

The problem is how they are treated poorly.

China like Australia and New Zealand has a zero tolerance policy and imposed draconian lockdown measures even when few positive numbers surfaced. These countries shared similar low positive infections. No doubting that they did a good job with this policy.

Talking of Mississippi, a little off topic but hopefully this will be allowed through as it seems like a major health warning announced yesterday for treatment of covid with this drug.

Mississippi Is Pleading With People To Stop Using A Livestock Drug To Treat COVID-19

Mississippi health officials are pleading with residents not to take a medicine meant for cows and horses as an alternative to getting the COVID-19 vaccine.

In a state with the nation's second lowest rate of vaccination against the coronavirus, a jump in the number of calls to poison control prompted an alert Friday from the Mississippi State Department of Health about ingesting the drug ivermectin. The department said that at least 70% of recent calls to the state poison control center were related to people who ingested a version of the drug that is formulated to treat parasites in cows and horses.
Ingesting the drug can lead to a rash, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, neurologic disorders and potentially severe hepatitis requiring hospitalization, according to the alert written by Dr. Paul Byers, the state's top epidemiologist.

The main study supporting its use had to be withdrawn due to "plagiarism and data manipulation"
