UK government are concerned about variants of concern and how much sequencing the Thai government is doing.

The UK does up to 50% of global sequencing so maybe it is worried about what has been brewed in Thailand.

Thailand's case count isn't decreasing anyway but stuck in a world first parallel line pandemic pattern.

Their so incompetent they can't even manage to fix the figures downwards.

Its not just adults being affected longterm, its the kids too, despite a poster yesterday saying "Cant keep them wrapped up in cotton wool forever in cases mummy’s little soldier gets a runny nose."

I realize that Saigon has gone into strong lockdown however few days back Vietnam new cases were over 10k and deaths 350+.

Last couple of days new cases ~2500 and deaths ~100......How to make sense of this.

BTW Have friends in Vietnam and 2 days ago told me that EVERYONE in the couple of villages I'm familiar with were tested for covid. Vietnam is testing extensively.

As Covid cases rise, Phuket may extend lockdown measures

 

Phuket is likely to extend lockdown measures after a surge in Covid-19 infections. Meanwhile, local authorities are seeking support for half of Covid testing costs in a bid to reduce the financial burden.

On Thursday, Pol Maj-General Surachet Hakparn, the adviser, along with his team, inspected the progress of the Phuket "sandbox" programme before extending the “7+7” scheme.

Oh it is horrible.

I didn't fear death, I feared long covid.  People's lives are being destroyed.  And it's far more than the 1 percent death rate.  

Who wants to live when you can hardly get out of bed and eating is the only thing that you can do all day.  IT's horrible.

Again this issue of " Long Covid " is being raised.

If a reputable Journal such as the " Lancet " has published facts about this Phenomenon, then you better believe what they are saying.

Its now in the open for all to read and understand, so Governments around the Globe have no excuses for not taking care of Patients upon their release, and those released as " recovered " will have to be monitored closely for any lasting illness.

i'm in the 'we are peaking' camp and i'm starting to get a little worried about that forecast.  i focus on the the 7 day average for daily deaths.  it was 182 from the 10th to the 14th of this month, i didn't think a peak was in but now we are at the 250 range for the last 5-6 days.  i'm really hoping this is the peak.  no more daily deaths of 300+.  we need some low 200 range real bad right now.

I was looking for a reason to oppose your view, but I cannot. Israel new infections approach their second wave numbers....and deaths in this 3rd wave also are looking as high.....BUT Israel has had deaths under 100 for all but 1 day of the pandemic. I look to Israel and UK to tell us where we are going in this pandemic, as they both have well advanced vaccination efforts. Both places exhibit similar concerning behaviors.

UPDATE:

will lift some #COVID19 restrictions starting Sep 1 despite no significant drop in infection and death rates. Limited in-dining, some shops in malls, salons, barbers will be allowed to re-open again. The night curfew will remain.

So to dine out we will have to show proof of being vaccinated or a negative ATK test within the 7 previous days. Why bother to open at all, as few are fully vaccinated as of now,, and what proof of an ATK test is needed if you do the test at home.  Ludicrous but a setup for tourists who are vaccinated.
