Western DVDs in LOS

Featured Replies

When I first moved to LOS years ago, DVDs from the States played on Thai DVD players no problem.

In the States now, and wanting to bring back DVDs. Has anything changed? Will they still work?

That will depend on your DVD player, I found that most of the cheapo Thai and Chinese ones played most anything...the Brand name players where often region locked or could be changed a couple of times before locking to a region some could not easily be changed.

if you have a PC with a DVD drive you can "rip" them and save/play them much more conviently to a large external Hard drive

with a software called Mkvmerge.

Good info.

Yep, I remember that it allowed me to change the region, then after a few DVDs locked in.

I do indeed have a spare, old HP with a DVD drive.

Thanks.
