The Covid-19 authorities in Chiang Mai have announced the easing of various lockdown measures in the northern Thai city from next Wednesday September 1st.

This is in line with CCSA recommendations, reported Manager yesterday.

Restaurants will be opened to in house dining up to 11 pm. No alcohol can be served.

Alcohol can be sold in Chiang Mai from 11 am to 2 pm and 5 pm to 9 pm only.

Malls can open according to normal times but no sales promotion activities are allowed and there are limits on the number of patrons allowed.

Games shops, slot games, and parks in malls remain closed.

Sports stadia and fitness centers can open until 9 pm subject to limits on numbers of patrons.

Restaurants have been open for months but with no alcohol - this isn't new. Gyms have been open as well. The only thing new is the sports stadium part and them being somewhat more generous with opening hours. Anyone who lives in CM knows that. Clearly, Asean Now writers don't live here and have no idea.

Oh, oh.

Israel was 80% vaccinated, loosened restrictions and threw away their masks and now the Delta variant is raging there.

This won't turn out well.

If you have had the correct course of the vaccine you may still catch the virus but you are much less likely to be seriously ill or hospitalized . In other words your immune system is given a boost to help protect you , not 100% protection but not far off at 70-80% . The unvaccinated are fully exposed to the dangerous covid virus . It has been rumoured that the unvaccinated should be made to pay for any covid treatment in the UK . There is no scientific or medically proven reason to reject the vaccine , in fact quite the opposite with realms of medical data . The non vacs have only conspiracy theories to argue their side .         Why are there so many of these so called conspiralists around today ?  Sure that vaccinated people will still get the virus but they will not be the same burden on the medical services as the unvaccinated .

The Palestinians and most of the arab world will be happy about that, they should thank China and India. FYI I did not say I was happy with that.
