Popular Post Jonathan Fairfield
The public is watching closely to see if the scandal over a drug suspect shown tortured to death at a police station will trigger reforms or merely deepen the flaws of the Royal Thai Police. At the center of the scandal, which has made global headlines, is former rising star Thitisan Utthanaphon – a police colonel with a penchant for supercars. Dubbed “Jo Ferrari”, Thitisan is also frequently pictured with good-looking female celebrities on his arm. What happened? On August 6, the death certificate of 24-year-old drug suspect Jirapong Tanapat recorded an amphetamine overdose as the likely cause of death. No suspicions were aroused until lawyer Decha Kittivittayanan urged an investigation into reports that police officers in Nakhon Sawan had arrested Jirapong on August 5 before suffocating him to death at the station during an attempt to extort Bt2 million. Police had freed his alleged female accomplice in exchange for her promise to keep quiet about the killing, Decha told his 500,000 Facebook followers. Popular Post Eric Loh
It has been alleged that his father-in-law who is the police chief of Provisional Police Region 6 assigned Joe to Nakorn Sawan. Joe got his back covered with such a powerful and related police chief. Wonder his father-in-law is being investigated and what happen to the victim’s girlfriend who witnessed the crime. Is she under police protection? This case has his dirty fingerprints on many senior police officers. That translate to case watered down as it progresses till public attention waned and next big police corruption reared their ugly head. Police reform is a joke in Thailand. 11 1

He was informed by caused death, they are unlikely to inform them they had placed bags over his head and he had suffocated. Strange that they do not seem to do autopsies on unexpected deaths, or all deaths in custody. Guess this also may not have been first time a death cert issued for death in custody in that region 7

Popular Post Pedrogaz
Sitting here, I wonder what people are outraged about Jo Ferrari's actions. People are focussing on his cars.....but for goodness' sake, he murdered someone. Prayut's first reaction was that he was damaging the "image" of the RTP....but for goodness' sake, he murdered a suspect. Dont confuse me
Why free his female accomplice? Surely her knowledge of the whereabouts of any drugs would be the same? Popular Post SCOTT FITZGERSLD
Truth is that this is a very hard and scary case, harder than the story of the kidnapping and torture of the taiwanesse businessman by a group of corrupted policeman. this case is worse becuase we can see how a whole police station is dirty to the core, how they are experienced in covering such cases and how even the health system is collaborating. those cases should use as warning lights to all expats. makes me think about leaving this country for good while i am still alive.
