PM: Curfew Relaxation under Consideration

BANGKOK, Sept 1 (TNA) – Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha said the government was monitoring the COVID-19 situation in the country and would later consider curfew relaxation.

 

As eased COVID-19 controls took effect today, Gen Prayut who is also the defence minister said everyone should comply strictly with all disease control measures. If the compliance resulted in lower infections, the government would review the curfew, he said.

Not much of an offering as there is nowhere to go for entertainment or late night dining so exactly what is on offer - NOTHING!!!!

Curfew!!!!!! What curfew????? Where l live in a popular tourist city, cars and loud motorbikes are on the road all night every night, although it does slow down from about 1 to 3am. the only thing you should hear is the rubbish truck, but no. Anything goes with a lack of policing. My friend who is staying close to Nakhon Sawan says up there, no masks and motorbike racing rule the day.

Names would help.

Curfew is limited to the dark red zones.

No nationwide curfew.

The curfew is achieving nothing, with bars still closed it serves no real purpose.

Always so negativ. Who needs the bars. Without curfew you can order online food and ladies after 9 if you really need this. But I am confident that many entertainers will be waiting outside too. So I am sure that it will not be "NOTHING!!!!". Up to you to create your own entertainment if you really want it.

Would be better if they added at least an extra hour to the curfew. It would still curb coivd drinking and stuff but makes it easier for normal visits of friends. 9pm is quite early the first curfew was 23.00 that was actually not too bad.

Personally I agree. I am an early bird and being back at 23:00 (11 PM) would be much more acceptable. This 9 PM (with shops closing at 8 PM) really keeps me away.

But people are different.

True or friends who visit after their working day arriving at 19.00 and having to go 1.5 hour later is not that good either. We have a select group of people that visit at times all vaccinated through their companies. (i know it does not totally prevent the risk but lowers it).

 

But the 9pm rule is mainly against illigal bars and parties.. i think moving it to 10pm would still keep that in check while giving more time to more safe visits.

Illegal parties are illegal whatever time of day it is.   Just because your friends leave before curfew doesn’t make what you are doing legal.    I personally don’t have a problem with what you are doing as I do the same, but it is not fair on others who do not have houses with gardens.    A better option (as I am sure you would agree) would be to give everyone the same opportunities that you have to socialise by meeting ‘safe’ or select groups of people in safe outdoor environments (such as restaurants) and even let them have a drink together, just as you can do at your house.

Your allowed 5 people at your home nothing illegal about it. Only when you drink it starts to become illegal.  So I was talking about those visits not parties.

 

It might surprise you but people can have fun without drinking.  The moment alcohol stars flowing people start flaunting rules. Now IMHO that is not so bad if its done with 5 people max in a house (but not legal) but once your getting bigger crowds it gets even more risky. 

 

I was talking about the allowed visit (combined with occupants) of 5 people so if you have a gf that means 3 guests.

Sure I believe you.    By the way isn't it up to 25 people now since the rule change?  As long as no-one is drinking then it's within the rules.. right?

Relaxing curfew will make outside bars pretend to be restaurants and then continue to illegal sell inside a KTV room.  Seen it many times

I don't know about the 25 rule.. i thought it was for events. But to be honest im not sure.
