I thought it was proved that Sinovac was only appropriate 13.5% effective against the Delta strain..... Or is the report to please the Chinese, as they were not happy that people don't trust Sinovac...

And the 13.5% is with 2 jabs with it losing 50% of antibodies every 40 days. Can you imagine what protection 1 jab gives you against Delta. Close to zero  https://www.dawn.com/news/1637065

You are right. A recent CHINESE study shows that both Chinese vaccines are only 13.8 % efficient after one shot but this hair brained Govt still uses it. Even after two shots its not much better.

…….and people accuse China of BS.

this vaccine is minimally effective in protecting people from the indian variant.fact.what the govt cannot explain are a no of factors.....why they continued to buy it until last week knowing that, why they didnt join covax ,why the AZ factory didnt and still doesnt produce the vaccines as they boasted.why they continue to lack transparency in the contracting and pricing of the purchase of these vaccines.if they are effective then why are medical staff getting a 3rd shot of az or pfizer, why did the govts leader avoid the shot and get instead the AZ shot.the most unsettling of these facts is the relationship with the authoritarian/nationalists  in beijing.this i can answer.......its patently obvious that this govt and future military govts seek to ally themselves with Xi,we can see each day Xi's increasing hostility to outside countries in the region and worldwide, this is a bad thing for all.the thai military clique and the others who we all know, ,see this as a way of staying in power indefinately.modelling themselves on china and relying more on them as a source of power and money to oppress their own people and hence keeping themselves in power at the expense of the rest of the population.its a repeat of the old fascist clique in WW2 era, pibun songhrams fascist WW2 regime was modelled on japan for the same reasons and copied the japanese fascist model.they were allies.short term gain ,long term grief,a familiar refrain.will it end the same way....a good question, its obvious that any type of democratic govt will turn away from beijing and look westwards, the fascist one we have at the moment no,they will look to the boys from beijing, the thais will live in interesting times, they need brave hearts solidarity and support, take note Biden.

There have been no large scale real world studies of how effective the sinovac vaccine is against either infection, hospitalization and death. So your assertion that it is minimally effective is a dubious one. In scientific terms phrases like "minimally effective" are meaningless. What is meaningful are percentages. Got any figures from real world studies you'd care to share?

While Sinovac is most likely less effective than most other vaccines, that doesn't mean it is ineffective or even close, If I were a front line health care worker I would demand the most effective vaccines, too. They face the most exposure to covid and run the highest risks. But that doesn't mean that Sinovac's vaccine is ineffective or anything close to that.

If Sinovac is so good why have more than 1000 healthcare workers who had two shots subsequently contracted the virus?

1000 out of how many? 1000 may seem like a really big number to you, but without context, it's meaningless. You also have to consider how effective the virus was in preventing hospitalizations and deaths. How many of those 1000 developed symptoms serious enough to require hospitalzation? How many died?

Controlling a pandemic that the Chinese gave them and destroyed their entire economy in the process ? I think the Thai people should donate to a mass seafood festival buffet to think them - when they eventually come back.

At the present time there are people in the UK, Ireland and , the USA and many other countries filling up hospital ICU's with Delta.

Many of them fully vaccinated.

NZ is worried now that Delta will slip through MIQ and past border workers and they are considering a booster of Pfizer.

Some of the spreaders were frontline fully vaccinated workers. RNZ news.

So why would China let it's people into Thailand and have to control them for Delta when they return?

Nz news said Pfizer was working on it's vaccines.

I have read, so is China and every other vaccine producer.

The problem the world faces is virus mutation, and the fear now is that since Alfa has passed and delta is dominant, that new variants will emerge and the present vaccines won't work.

As covid is a cousin to influenza, and influenza vaccines are updated every year , then if this is the case with corona, then the world might need to start treating it with drugs.

Russia has one in phase 2 trials, it is called MIR 19 and is said to be extremely effective, administered by inhaler where it attacks SARS, in the lungs, the main site of infection from covid.

You can read all about MIR 19 on Dr Google.

Dr. Opas Karnkawinpong said the Chinese made vaccine has helped Thailand control the pandemic since the start of the COVID-19 outbreak, when the world was facing a vaccine shortages

Let's get some truth into that particular sentence:

...when Thai politicians, grubbing around in the dirt to look for ways to make money from non-Chinese vaccines, had created a totally unnecessary local vaccine shortage.

The Thai ecoonomy is destroyed? Supermarkets are closed? Automobiles aren't being manufactured and exported? Get a grip.

I think it all went wrong when Delta broke out in India, dashing Thailand's hopes of mass producing Astra, they could not get the ingredients as there is now a shortage of supply.

India is using all it produces and not exporting any.
