rupert the bear
this vaccine is minimally effective in protecting people from the indian variant.fact.what the govt cannot explain are a no of factors.....why they continued to buy it until last week knowing that, why they didnt join covax ,why the AZ factory didnt and still doesnt produce the vaccines as they boasted.why they continue to lack transparency in the contracting and pricing of the purchase of these vaccines.if they are effective then why are medical staff getting a 3rd shot of az or pfizer, why did the govts leader avoid the shot and get instead the AZ shot.the most unsettling of these facts is the relationship with the authoritarian/nationalists in beijing.this i can answer.......its patently obvious that this govt and future military govts seek to ally themselves with Xi,we can see each day Xi's increasing hostility to outside countries in the region and worldwide, this is a bad thing for all.the thai military clique and the others who we all know, ,see this as a way of staying in power indefinately.modelling themselves on china and relying more on them as a source of power and money to oppress their own people and hence keeping themselves in power at the expense of the rest of the population.its a repeat of the old fascist clique in WW2 era, pibun songhrams fascist WW2 regime was modelled on japan for the same reasons and copied the japanese fascist model.they were allies.short term gain ,long term grief,a familiar refrain.will it end the same way....a good question, its obvious that any type of democratic govt will turn away from beijing and look westwards, the fascist one we have at the moment no,they will look to the boys from beijing, the thais will live in interesting times, they need brave hearts solidarity and support, take note Biden.

The biggest problem with Sinovac is that it is made in China and the mere mention of that country immediately blinds some to the facts. Such is the power of the US propaganda machine on the ignorant. Let's not get too carried away. The Chinese do bear some of the blame for this distrust. Chinese has yet to release the final report offering all the data on their phase 3 trials of Sinovac. Official reports on phase 1 and phase 2 have yet to be released. And Sinovac does have a history of corruption in regards to other vaccines. And also incompetence. Brazil just suspended the use of Sinovac vaccines because they come from manufacturing facility that hasn't been inspected and approved. All that said, we do know from past studies, that Sinovac has been very effective against variants previous to the Delta variant. It's extremely unlikely that it's ineffective or anything close to that in regards to the Delta variant. Obviously much of the denigration of the Delta variant is due to anti-Chinese animus. I've been called out several times by these haters of most things Chinese as somehow being on China's side. Maybe some day, science will be arbitrated like a spectator sport and we'll be seeing the release of study results featured on ESPN and competing networks. But not for a while yet. I hope. 1

You also have to consider how effective the virus was in preventing hospitalizations and deaths. How many of those 1000 developed symptoms serious enough to require hospitalzation? How many died? Are you referring to this Brazilian study carried out by the same Institute that reported the 51% figure? Brazilian town experiment shows mass vaccination can wipe out COVID-19 "A small commuter town surrounded by sugarcane fields in southeastern Brazil, one of the countries hardest hit by COVID-19, has shown that even a vaccine that had low efficacy in some clinical trials can dramatically control the pandemic virus. As part of an unusual experiment to track the real-world effectiveness of CoronaVac, a COVID-19 vaccine made by a Chinese company, almost all adult residents of Serrana, in the state of São Paulo, received the required two shots between February and April, long before most would otherwise have become eligible for the vaccine. ... Symptomatic cases of COVID-19 have dropped by 80% since the start of mass vaccination, related hospitalizations fell 86%, and deaths plummeted 95%, the research team in charge of the experiment reported during a press conference yesterday." https://www.science.org/news/2021/06/brazilian-town-experiment-shows-mass-vaccination-can-wipe-out-covid-19 And what don't you understand about the fact that the 51% effectiveness found for Sinovac's vaccine had to do with prevention of symptomatic transmission and nothing at all to do with how well it prevented hospitalizations and deaths? And for that matter, why do you focus on that 51% figure when other large real world studies gave Sinovac's vaccine a much higher effectiveness rating? 2
