(...) And keep in mind that in the case of Sinovac its vaccine was produced by a company that's located in China but it's not the Chinese govt.

That's meaningless. Private enterprises (and even billionaires) in China are at the mercy of the government (see Jack Ma, Alibaba, Tencent & Co) ...

they do nothing but steal and copy technology and then get butthurt when quality not up to par

True, literally. Just go to a Chinese supermarket; pickpockets everywhere. And don't leave your apartment unattended for 5 weeks; they will empty it all out!

If you buy anything in/from China you'll realise how easily it breaks. But one thing they are good at: nationalism!

That's true but that doesn't mean that the Chinese govt created Alibaba, Tencent, etc. And it doesn't mean that the Chinese govt had a hand in the actual creation of Sinovac but they were certainly unforgivably lax in approving it before the full results of Phase 3 trials were published. Even to date, only a preliminary report on the results of those trials has been published.

Respect must be earned, and never freely given. Same applies to goodwill. China, do something to earn some goodwill. You want credibility on the world stage? Start behaving like a responsible nation.

Stop behaving in a ridiculous manner, and like that of a bully, in the South China Sea. It has been centuries since a nation insisted it's territorial waters extended a thousand miles or more, from it's border. We would refer to that as self applied egg on the face. OK?

When you develop a vaccine intended for world consumption, try a little harder. Thy to obtain an efficacy rate that rivals the others, and is not at the bottom of the list. It just reinforces the notion that Chinese made goods are of inferior quality.

Stop the harvesting of organs from political prisoners.

Many practitioners have reported that, while they were in China’s extensive network of detention centres and forced labour camps, they were tortured. Evidence indicates that Falun Gong practitioners, Uyghur Muslims, Tibetans and other prisoners have been further subject to forced live organ harvesting.

Stop locking up those who are different from the masses, such as the Falun Gong disciples, and the Uyghur Muslims. Behaving like a civilized nation might earn you some respect.

Couldn't have said it better myself. I agree with each point. Chinese citizens needs to understand this too then they might understand why not everyone in the world loves the Chinese government as much as they do and why the world questions the Chinese government as much as they do

No, they don't. They do cost a lot more than the AZ vaccine. Currently, at least twice as much.Earlier as much as 5-6 times as much. Which certainly raises questions as to why Thailand initially ordered so little of the AZ vaccine.

AZ is Farang?

China is struggling under a massive amount of internal debt. Little known to the outside world.

Last week, the firm, with projects underway in 22 cities, warned that it may default on debt repayments if its efforts to refinance and sell assets fall short, an announcement that rattled global debt markets. Contractors are lining up for payment, and creditors are fleeing, willing to accept less than 30 cents in the dollar from anyone game enough to buy Evergrande debt, meanwhile, tens of thousands of hopeful apartment owners are fretting that a collapse may see their deposits evaporate.

...the point I was making was that there was no goodwill... they were not trying to help Thailand... they were not doing Thailand any favours... they just wanted to profit hugely from Thailands situation. And to talk about 'goodwill' is sickening and disgraceful.

If your point is a good one, why invoke falsehoods to justify it? It just weakens your case.

You got me scratching my head on this one. I am merely offering the opinion that China did not act out of 'goodwill' but was purely motivated by profit. If you think otherwise you are entitled to that opinion.

“China says criticisms of vaccine hurt its goodwill”

OH…BOO- HOO!!!

It’s more a matter of China’s collective underhandedness, their sneakiness and their self-proclaimed cleverness that have hurt them.

Stealing intellectual capital the world over and bullying smaller countries (and not just in Asia), unleashing covid and trying to deny it and further not giving full disclosure, their dealings with Hong Kong, Taiwan and SCS…all this is just the tip of the iceberg.

I SAY, BOO-HOO CHINA!!!…don’t let those big tears fall in your porridge.

China hurt the goodwill of the world by unleashing the virus on innocent lives everywhere.

China may be the country that the virus was first detected but they can’t be accountable for the malfeasance of respective government in US, Brazil and India that have record infections and deaths. Perhaps we can also blame these countries of bad policies that allow the original virus to mutate and spread round the world.

HNA went under and $171 billion was wiped out in February this year, but it hardly registered. China works in mysterious ways.
