PHUKET: The annual Phuket Vegetarian Festival will go ahead on Oct 6-14, but must be observed under strict COVID-19 protection measures, Phuket officials have announced.

The confirmation that the annual festival will proceed came at a meeting of officials and representatives from 30 shrines across the island held at Provincial Hall yesterday (Oct 14).

Chairing the meeting was Phuket Governor Narong Woonciew joined by Vice Governor Piyapong Choowong, who noted that it was important to allow the festival to be held.

With the current outbreak I would imagine that's one venue to stay away from.

Of course. Anything to appease the spirits and bring good joss. In other news, the domestic economy continues to tank and restaurants and bars remain restricted.

I was just reading that the COVID-19 situation is pretty bad.  Very low hospital bed supply.

In years past the vegetarian festival was very popular and crowded.

Be interesting to see how many people actually attend.

Besides the locals I don't think theres many tourists from the "sandbox".  Most likely the people who would attend such an event.

Definitely not something I'd like to do.

We can congregate for a vegetarian festival or have a group get together for coffee but not a beer or glass of wine on a meal out????? OMB!
