When Thailand began its battle against COVID-19 early last year, local scientists were quick to launch research programs on innovative weapons to contain the virus. So far, their hard work has yielded a small but effective armory, ranging from vaccine prototypes to groundbreaking test kits and more.

Clinical trials for Thai vaccines

More than 20 COVID-19 vaccines being developed in Thailand, and three have entered human trials after showing promising results.

The much-touted frontrunner is “ChulaCov19”, a collaborative effort by Chulalongkorn University, the King Chulalongkorn Memorial Hospital and Pennsylvania University in the US. This prototype vaccine is based on the powerful mRNA technology used by Pfizer-BioNTech and Moderna.

"This prototype vaccine is based .... "

aka 'copied?'

Thai researchers are using 2 decades of published scientific research, experimentation, clinical testing and hereto patented mRNA covid 19 vaccines fully developed as their starting point. Covid 19 mRNA vaccines that has received emergency authorization/full authorization for manufacturing, sale and dispersement. So risk of failure is almost nonexistent, especially with full government backing.

Compare to one of the earliest researchers for mRNA vaccines Katalin Kariko who after 6 years in the 1990's could not get grants for further development and eventually was DEMOTED from a path to full professorship.

This is like the Wright Brothers began aircraft designing after touring and riding on a Boeing passenger aircraft.

I would give these Thsi researchers more credit if they developed an amulet to ward off covid 19.
