Holidays And Serving / Selling Alcohol ?

Featured Replies

Mostly all of us now there are many holidays in Thailand but some are different because on these days it's prohibited selling or serving beer and/or other spirits.

Which are these special days i know for shure one of them is the kings birthday and the other days ???

With the current development in Thailand, selling of alcohol will most likely be prohibited for good.

Tilapia.

My wife tells me the Kings birthday is a great drinking day and it is possible to purchase spirits.

Big Buddaha is the big NO-NO for spirits!

You also have the no selling from 2-5 PM which may or may not be in place,

Hi Frank.................................today is a no-booze day, and of course not a drop will pass my lips. There are three BIG Buddha days a year when it's strictly forbidden to serve alcohol. The Kings birthday is also a no-go day for drinkers. Also there are election days, when booze is not allowed between 18.00 the day before and midnight on voting day. But as a previous poster put it, it is also against the law to sell booze between 14.00 & 17.00 and after mid-night until 11.00am. There is a notice on my pub wall to enforce that law.
