Thailand on Wednesday (September 22) reported 11,252 new COVID-19 cases, 13,695 recoveries and 141 additional deaths over the past 24 hours.

◼︎ 13,695 recoveries

◼︎ 11,224 new infections

◼︎ 28 prison / prison infections

▶︎ Total infections since April 1: 1,482,494

▶︎ Total recoveries since since April 1: 1,339,107

Wednesday’s cases bring the total number of COVID-19 infections in Thailand to 1,511,357 with 15,753 deaths.

The news comes as there has yet to be a decision on whether to extend Thailand’s nationwide State of Emergency, set to expire on September 30th, or whether the Centre for COVID-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) will remain, Deputy Government Spokesperson Rachada Dhnadirek told Thai PBS World on Tuesday.

Dr. Rachada’s confirmation followed a Government House press conference earlier Tuesday about amendments approved by the cabinet to the Communicable Diseases Act, which have led some local media to report that the frequently extended State of Emergency, in place since March 2020 to curb the spread of COVID-19, will end on September 30th.

I don't understand this statistic, hospital admissions are going up and have been steadily since 1st Sept.

On 1st Sept there were 24,161 admitted daily

On 22nd Sept there were 41,088 admitted daily

While everything else, critical care, those on ventilators etc are on the way down, not sure why this should be increasing

To put that into perspective, hospital admissions have flatlined since 1st Sept while all other categories have decreased https://ddc.moph.go.th/covid19-dashboard/

Ergo, why people believe the CT's on world depopulation.  I thought when we first entered this pandemic and the vaccines arrived that they were to be sold at cost. Governments were thought to be subsidizing the costs but apparently not.

Yet here in this article from awhile back:

https://ihsmarkit.com/research-analysis/pandemic-pricing-dilemma-covid19-vaccine.html

Pricing at-cost vs for profit

Pfizer stands out among other leading vaccine developers as the company has opted not to take government funding to help mitigate some of the risks associated with vaccine R&D and at-risk manufacturing. Other OWP candidates include those being developed by Moderna (US), AstraZeneca (UK), Johnson & Johnson (J&J, US), and Novavax (US) have benefited from notable BARDA investments worth more than USD3.7 billion combined for R&D and manufacturing activities.

wonder if Thailand should start hiding their daily figures

China have done it with success and got off other countries red lists

Some of us think Thailand has been deliberately underreporting the numbers from the start of the pandemic.

To China's credit, the government seems to understand how truly daft much of the world is and how easily they can be lied to repeatedly.

Thailand may be playing be playing the middle ground, report a reasonable number of cases against the regional figures so that the country can open up and maybe tourists will slowly start visiting. Where they will fall down is when large numbers of tourists start getting sick and reveal the healthcare system here is incapable of handling it.

All this is almost a guarantee to anyone who truly understands the country.

I dunno about large numbers of vaccinated tourists getting sick. The numbers for the Sandbox are pretty small.

Yeah, I guess we'll see. Maybe the sandbox is having a genuine protective effect. In most countries where vaccination rates are high and they've opened up a bit, large numbers of people continue to get sick. And, these are countries where the majority of vaccinations have been quality ones (not the Chinese stuff).

If they remove restrictions nationally and allow large numbers of tourists to come, I have a feeling the number of vaccinated tourists that get sick will be very high.

I will add that there could very well be other mutation strains in Thailand that are unreported. We recall the single time Thailand upload a variant to the global database, there was a lot of pushback as they didn't want any variants associated with Thailand.

Then, there is Mu and Lamda.
