Popular Post webfact
Picture: Manager Manager's sources said that arguments broke out at Don Mueang airport in Bangkok after people were refused boarding for flights to Phuket. Passengers didn't realise they needed a negative Covid-19 test result within the last seven days. They said they were double vaxxed and had the Mor Phrom app but they were refused to fly. Meanwhile Nok Air suspended online check-in as of October 1st, the Thai media reported last week. Popular Post BritManToo
Best not to fly at all. Let them destroy their airlines and their tourism industry with no customers. Until all this COVID nonsense is over I won't be flying anywhere. No tests, no vaccination certificates, no COE, no COVID insurance, no hotels. The only way to win this game is by not playing. I wonder what the shops would do if everyone refused to wear masks? Popular Post freedomnow
surprised the country has no imploded at this point and currency tanked with no furlough...this must be at the upper limit point for remaining tourist businesses still afloat... ...and realistically they won't see number near pre-covid for what, maybe 2 more years if these additional oral antivirals coming to market are effective and no more radical variants emerge .......at best ? Have my eye on another south-east Asia country with 1-day quarantine and no furhter conditions beyond clearing their covid test on arrival double vaxed. Also all this wearing masks properly outdoors all over south-east Asia..isn't that a load of bunk and not necessary ? 4

Pre-covid numbers may never reach again in the near future. I'm guessing at least a decade. With china being absent from the tourist scenes, no country except the Carribeans will be able to attain pre-covid numbers.

There almost there, lots of businesses in tourist areas have already folded, never to reopen. This government hasn't known what the left or right has been doing since Covid began, albeit first lockdown sorted it, however, they shouldn't have stopped there, they should have started preparing for further spreads/variants, e.g. seeing what was happening else where in the world. Total failure not getting people vaccinated earlier and allowing people to travel during Songkran has killed the country basically in my opinion. Mr Dome
OK, was that not clearly communicated by the airline(s)? Presumably, they had the passengers contact info.
EricTh
If foreigners are already within the country and are fully vaccinated, they shouldn't be subjected to the Covid tests. We don't mind if the Covid test is free or minimal charge but it's around 3000 baht per test which is ridiculous because it's more expensive than the local air ticket. I heard Thai citizens get the Covid test free but I am not sure. Edited October 11, 2021 by EricTh
gk10012001
test within 7 days? What happened to within 72 hours? Well, if 7 days is the new test standard, it will simplify some pre travel arrangements for some people as it gives them more time to get things done

With china being absent from the tourist scenes, no country except the Carribeans will be able to attain pre-covid numbers. Yes, I think it may be a long haul to rebuild a tourist industry. Boom times have ended - everything is cyclical - and long distance air-travel may become as expensive as it was half a century ago. A significant proportion of travellers spentfive weeks on a boat emigrating to the Antipodes. Or if you were a hippy you travelled overland through the Middle East, Afghanistan and India. Of course the private-jet setters will still be flying everywhere, which should please the present Thai government which several years ago announced it wished to promote tourism by the wealthy rather than mass plebeian tourism. Another factor that might poke a spoke through the tourist wheel is that earlier this year the Global Vaccine Expert (Bill Gates) told us that the coronavirus pandemic is as nothing compared to Climate Change. He has now set his sights on the latter. Perhaps we must expect Climate Lockdowns in the near future? Pollution levels are said to have fallen dramatically as result of recent lockdowns. Note also how mainstream opinion-formers screech loudly about the need to reduce carbon dioxide and skim over the issue of the growing number of untested synthetic chemicals being introduced into our environment. Thousands of new substances every year.
