webfact
By Thammarat Thadaphrom BANGKOK (NNT) - Deputy Prime Minister Gen Prawit Wongsuwan has urged government agencies to heighten their efforts in suppressing human trafficking, while calling for maximum punishments against government officials involved in the crimes against humanity. Gen Prawit chaired a gathering of the Coordinating and Monitoring of Anti-Trafficking in Persons Performance Committee (CMP Committee), during which he urged related agencies to step up their efforts to suppress human trafficking and help those victimized. The deputy premier asked government agencies to focus more on human resource development and the improvement of operational tasks. He pointed to the lack of understanding among officials with regard to human trafficking, particularly in identifying trafficking victims. The committee approved a guideline to urgently provide intensive training for anti-trafficking officials, and a medium-term plan to establish a training facility. Gen Prawit stressed that efforts against human trafficking are part of the government’s urgent policy towards sustainability, saying the society can not tolerate forced detention, extortion, torture, or rape, especially among women and children. According to him, there is a need to encourage more public participation in order to increase the effectiveness of anti-trafficking operations. -- © Copyright NNT 2021-10-16 - Whatever you're going through, the Samaritans are here for you - Follow ASEAN NOW on LINE for breaking COVID-19 updates

Is that why only the male drugs guy was murdered and his female accomplice allowed to live by the Ferrari guy I have no idea if something is being lost in translation but it appears thought process's, morals and scruples are very, very different amongst the Thai elite.... herfiehandbag
Incidentally, what did happen in the end to all those high ranking military types who were running those transit/holding camps for the trafficked migrants down south a few years ago? A few months in an "inactive post", and then business as usual?

recom273
Why does Aseannow give page space to these NNT news release?. Sorry, its all junta propaganda. Last week we had a report of Prawits amazing visit to Khon Kaen, a reprint of NNT press release. A completely different story to other reports of a crackdown on protesters on the two day run up to the visit, and not a mention of the stories that Thai media reported, a huge brawl between a village and police after a kid threw a missile. All news is biased but does this forum have to support the drivel from this establishment?
