Popular Post webfact
Picture: Daily News Thai media Daily News reported that Thailand's 191 police were on the prowl making sure that drinkers were behaving themselves. They published a picture of that in a story in which they said that many drinkers had come out to have an alcoholic drink at restaurants now that the ban had been partially lifted in the Thai capital Bangkok. The ban was lifted after many months and drinkers can have a beverage with their food until 9 pm. The police were making sure that everyone knew the rules, said the media who reported from a restaurant on the Kaset-Nawamin Road that they did not name. The restaurant like others had received SHA approval and on the first day of drinking being allowed there were 200 customers. They said it was exciting and lively. Pol Maj-Gen Phaiboon Thienkhao who was part of the PR-cum-watch drive said they had spoken to the owner reminding them of responsibilities in preventing Covid clusters and was happy to say that everything was being followed to the letter. -- © Copyright ASEAN NOW 2021-11-02 - Whatever you're going through, the Samaritans are here for you - Follow ASEAN NOW on LINE for breaking COVID-19 updates Get your business in front of millions of customers who read ASEAN NOW with an interest in Thailand every month - email [email protected] for more information 1

Popular Post NanaSomchai
I <deleted> told you all in several other threads over the course of the past week; Thailand is being turned into a totalitarian police ran state, those (mainly Thais) who supported Prayuth and the current regime are in for a rude wake up call, yet this is only the beginning. The Thailand we all once knew and cherished is gone, it's dead Jim. In fact it's getting so ridiculous with all these rules and all these "Police officers" everywhere trying to control and enforce nearly every single aspect of your daily life, it starts to feel like China.

Is there a requirement that restaurants have to serve food in order to comply with the relaxed regulations? I realise that restaurants will want to sell food also but I haven't seen that emphasised anywhere by the powers that be.

The basis for having alcohol was to be served with your meal as far as I was aware . I have been in bars with restaurant licenses also and only about 15% of customers if that actually ordered food. Popular Post spidermike007
I would imagine the restaurants acted polite to the local franchisees, who have the audacity to call themselves law enforcement. The same guys who enforced highly selective shutdowns, allowed drinking for the past few months in a paper cups, and repressed the right to protest. Hard to respect these guys on any level. They are NOT serious men. And the alcohol ban in restaurants and hotels is beyond stupid.

As far as I was aware, the basis for a restaurant to be permitted to serve alcohol now, legally, was to be a licenced restaurant, that's all. paul1804
This whole alcohol in restaurants ban is so dumb and reading the latest news headlines about Bangkok astounds me what lengths this country will go to for some rule that's so stupid, stupid because its baselesss! Stargeezr
Does anyone remember what Thailand was like before COVID? Was the country awash in alcohol so much that everyone was drunk all of the time? It is crazy for all the bans, just because of COVID, as alcohol does not cause COVID, but that seems to be what the Thai government and maybe even TAT thinks like. The new not so amazing Thailand.
