Index is really not what I'm looking for.

My problem is my size (61) and slightly oval head.

Hard to find something comfortable.

I have a good Thai brand L size. (59/60). It is a bit tight, which is good.

XL should work for you PoorSucker.

That's why I will be getting a fullface helmet and travelling at around 30 kph I doubt whether I will suffer the same fate.

Amen.

Longer I drove in Thailand..slower I drove - while not too slow to be dangerous also from getting rear-ended. I never drive in fast lane on big multi-lane roads and as we know scooters are not supposed to...

Undertaking on the left by vehicles suddenly with no signal...mortuary habits. In fact it's my main reason for looking elsewhere to live long-term..Thai driving habits.

I don't think a helmet that gone through a crash is safe anymore, what do you guys think.

What is a new helmet worth ?

What is your life worth ?

Good info there.

The difference between a premium helmet and others is the quality of the linings, fit and finish, etc.

As the link above shows a LS2 helmet or HJC can have a higher safety rating that a Shoei or Aria which cost many times more,

I bought the one with the best ventilation I could find - modular - FF324 - only one I found that does not make my hair soaking wet so ventilation great.

Brought from Canada - link below for LOS

The risk is so low that it is near non existent.

I don't ride around in the sun enough for it to become an issue.

I swap mine out ever few years, which also fixes the UV issue.

I have a Shoei. Hardly ever used it. left it in the cupboard. When I did go to use it all the liner was crumbling. Had to buy a new one.

Not sure if its the heat, humidity or UV out here. Even the outer casing on my Garmin Nuvi has gone all sticky.

But not all brands suit everyone due to different shapes. I tried HJC and found them uncomfortable.

This is probably a lot more information than what you are looking for but an informative thread for sure -

This was a useful resource for me the last time a was shopping for a new helmet - https://www.lidpicker.com/free-data . I did perform some measurements with calipers that I bought from Amazon.  Using these numbers and info from Lidpicker I settled on an Arai something-something which has fit me perfectly.

Riding for over 50 years.

Never surrender - unless I am crippled.

A helmet can save your life - my take on the OP question
