The RT-PCR COVID-19 test requirement upon arrival in Thailand will remain in place in light of the emergence of the new “Omicron” COVID-19 variant in many countries, the Thai cabinet announced today (Tuesday). This decision negates the Centre for COVID-19 Situation Administration’s announcement, issued last week, saying that antigen tests will be used from December 16th.

Cabinet approves one-year visa for foreigners seeking medical treatment in Thailand

The Thai cabinet approved, in principle, the issuance of medical treatment visas at their meeting today (Tuesday). The visa will allow foreigners seeking medical treatment in Thailand to stay for up to one year, without having to leave the country for visa renewals in the case of tourist visas.

Search on for a tiger which strayed out of Huai Kha Khaeng wildlife sanctuary

Gov’t aims to grow more mangrove forests to curb air pollution

BANGKOK (NNT) - The government is eyeing the increase of mangrove forest land as an effective measure to combat air pollution. The Prime Minister has ordered the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment to find suitable areas for forest planting while creating a comprehensive plan to tackle the seasonal haze issue.

Several mask brands do not meet standards: TCC

BANGKOK (NNT) - An independent consumer protection agency said only a few face masks sold in the market are up to standards, with only 3 out of 14 brands tested meeting the quality criteria. Thailand Consumer Council is now urging the government to enforce mandatory requirements for all single-use face masks, similar to those classified as medical masks.
