Reformed gambler MP says legalized casino can be sorted "within the life of this government"

Yep, apparently based on private experience. Not on the small percentage of gambling addiction that is a world known fact.

Gambling is a societal illness that can cause untold misery to those it affects and all those around them. I speak from personal experience here.

For someone who has suffered from such a thing it is rank hypocrisy to promote a casino.

Then you belong to the 0,4 - 0,5 % of players that have such problems. The other ones can handle their gambling in a good, responsible and recreational way. Tell me, why should we let the minority decide here, when we do not agree to that regarding other cases?

Oh dear, making assumptions again...I said personal experience, not that I was the one gambling.

And the point stands that it is rank hypocrisy for someone who has had problems with gambling to promote a casino.

It´s not assumptions, it´s facts. You are basing you stance on being a part of a minority. But, you are entitled to your opinion, even when you are wrong. ???? (Just to use your own comment)

Well, given your style of posting, quoting others is probably a good move.. oh and by the way, it might be a good idea for you to read a post before making the same inaccurate comment.

I know what you wrote. You have personal experience. That´s sad, but it´s only you that have bad control of your habits. Your experience belongs with 0,4 - 0,5 % of all gamblers. That does not make the gambling bad. It´s called a lack of self-control.

Yet again you avoid addressing the point I made about it being hypocrisy for someone who has problems with gambling to promote a casino.

Still at least you are consistent in that…

Just maybe the MP's have figured outa way to "squeeze" the casino

The Commission will have to make a visit to Vancouver top of their list. to learn from the best how to wash $B in Casinos...with BC. out there would be a long line of clients ready to rock

Keep talking. Better address your gambling problem, instead of criticizing the industry. That it´s hypocrisy for you and the rest of the 0,5% is not relevant. It´s like saying milk is not good for the bone structure, as 0,5% are having problem with lactose.

Oh right you have an insiders insight to how many people have a gambling problem, a vested interest view so speak, bound to be reliable there...lol.

And yet again, I am simply pointing out the hypocrisy of the individual the OP is about...something you have already agreed with.

As, I said! Good counting. Just take the world population times 0,5%. After that you are mentioning reliable???? As you said, LAUGHABLE!

And no, it´s not a vested interest as we examine the works of 7 different gambling authorities and regulative bodies worldwide. CGCB, Isle of Man GSC, MGA, GGA, UKGC, EMTA, Kahnawake KGC.

Ah, you examine...lol.

Not sure why you are continuing this as you have already conceded the point I was making is correct...

Oh deary me you  really don't like backing down and then admitting it do you.

Here's some stats for you-the first one being the most worrying...

''There are around 350 million problematic gamblers around the world.''

Oooh! Good info! WHO is really reliable too. They have all the right stats about Covid. ????

So They are trying to state that between 20 - 25 % of all people who gamble have problem. I am pretty sure you understand how wrong that is.

I really think you need to read & then re-read the post again, read it slowly and try to understand what is being said, you have totally the wrong end of the stick.

555 he swallows...

If they follow the Singapore model locals will have to pay $100 per visit tax to enter ( justificationhow will locals be able network if they cant join their foreign guests). Then there will be an annual pass for $2500 with a few perks like comped rooms for the sophisticated experienced HiSos.

And that's how my Singapore ex GF mother went through a $3M inherited house and the family old world investments in 36 months.
