Cha Cha promised to bring happiness to the people, and return power within a few years. He as done neither. Instead, he has brought increasing desperation, crime, homelessness, unemployment, suicide, and sadness.

And don't even bring up Covid. It is merely one element, and not an excuse for the level of sadistic malfeasance we are seeing.

They should sell Attack insurance for tourist coming to Thailand. Going to need it.  This will not stop. Especially with all the new Rich people coming to visit Thailand.

But there is. The higher tier Plan 2 AXA Covid insurance includes that provision.

And so it begins, is there anything more inevitable as tourists return.

I watched pickpockets on bikes while sitting enjoying a beer in a back soi near the Indra BK.(before covid)

One guy would snatch a bag away from where I was sitting then come back to the soi where I was and hand the bag to another guy who would take off, I guess Duck forgot this tactic and went straight to the porn shop who gladly paid him 1500 BHAT for stolen property, I wonder if they asked for his ID before the purchase.

The unfortunate scenario I have a feeling we will see more often as tourists return is questioning of obvious price gouging attempts by the shadier operators descend into violence. It will probably take a lot less for the frustration and economic hardship bubbling below the surface to be triggered. The same goes for bad, drunken or inconsiderate behaviour on the part of unwitting tourists who maybe aren't quite as aware of the extent of the economic pressures the rank and file they are likely to encounter are under.

Look at how tall and huge the brother is, lord help us!

Really ? If you were alone further out near the light house during daytime  and this lowlife appears, how safe are you ?

Many individuals (domestic migrant workers) and businesses here are about to enter into their most expensive time since covid.

Their expenses will return to pre covid amounts, yet their income will not meet their expenses as tourism will not be back into full swing until well into 2022.

Some individuals may resort to crime.

There is a lot of gratuitous violence between young Thai people now.  The murder rate is up.  Maybe due to PSS (pandemic stress syndrome)

are you kidding me .......  they ALL carry either a gun or machete  in the car and have done 20 yrs before Covid.

Our neighbor, quite rightly, got four and a half years for stealing 20k bahts worth of stock from his employer. This 500 baht and a wai is a myth, sentences are harsh, it's not the UK after all!

It seems to me that the punishment is in the inverse ratio of the crime. depending on the amount of money you have, and who you know in the police/justice/government system.

so Pattaya is getting back to normal .......  well that's a relief    !!

Yes, a testament to the utter failure of the one that stole democracy with the excuse that it was the only way to fight crime and corruption.

Fight crime and corruption my hairy white behind! Utter, utter failure.:bah:

Reminds me of the Swiss (?) woman who was killed for B300 (?) on Phuket some months ago.

(I never did hear much follow-up from that case ... maybe this present case will likewise go quiet ... so as not to tarnish the image.)

When a Burmese or a farang commits the crime, they keep it in the media, but when it's a Thai who commits the crime, it's quietly forgotten in the media.

I'd agree with you on the timing and location but not on the nature and rarity of the crime. That area is my regular walking route and during the day there are always people around that exact spot either fishing or sitting around having a meal, especially on a busy weekend like this when the fireworks were on.

I've said on here before months ago that I think petty and not so petty street crime is going to be a much bigger problem than before in Pattaya as tourists return,  the only reason it hasn't been happening during Covid is the absence of targets and toe-rags. This is just the start.

People sitting around legally! So what is your point?

She wasn't killed 'for' 300 baht!
