There have been developments in the scandal now known as "lamppost-gate".

This was the procurement of fancy lampposts topped with Thai mythical figures known as kinarees and also containing solar panels.

It happened in Racha Thewa sub-district of Bang Plee, Samut Prakan.

It is claimed that local officials pocketed money in the scandal by announcing false costs.

It sparked a series of online picture sprees suggesting that lamppost adornment corruption was even more widespread in Thailand.

In the latest development the DSI - Department of Special Investigation - have completed an inquiry and have now handed over 27 files to the NACC.

This is the Office of the National Anti-Corruption Commission that will decide what to do next, reported Naew Na

To be filed with the other "pending" corruption cases.

Can't see much being done though !

I just hope they can shine some light on this corruption,

and not keep everything in the dark...

With all these 'Adorned' lampposts everywhere in Thailand it does seem strange that they all look like very similar in design made by the same company. I might also add they are often on bridges or flyovers.
