With 22 hours of stopover in Dubai, can I go through immigration and back to check the flight to BKK? Did you need a new pass? Thank you

Dubai is one of the ‘green countries’ (from Thailands Perspective - at the moment).

If you are from a country which does not require visa’s to enter Dubai, then there are no issues.

If from ‘another’ (non-visa exempt country) you can still get ‘transit visas’ for up to 4 days I think.

As you would be exiting through Immigration, get a UAE arrival stamp in your passport and exit into the UAE you will need to include your stop off in your Thailand Pass Application.

Thus, if I’m not mistaken you will fill out your Thailand Pass as if the UAE is your departure country.

There is a section ‘Any other countries visited within 14 days before arrival’ - you input the UK in this section.

As its likely your baggage is ’straight through’ to Thailand, this may create some confusion at check-in (in the UK) but common sense should prevail with the check-in staff, all the need to see is a valid QR code.

There is also Expo 2021 going on, so this is a good time to visit.

While some may criticise ‘going into Dubai’ from the point of view of contracting Covid-19, bigger picture thinking would be that you are better off in a country with a low case load than in an airport in which tens of thousands of people are transiting from all over the world ever day.

Another option is the Dubai International Airport hotel (air-side) and getting your head down for a good few hours between flights.

Do upgrade to an earlier departure. Emirates flies to bangkok not only directly, but also through phuket. Many flights daily.

you might lose 72h window allowed for pcr and be forced to do rapid pcr at dubai airport for $40.

there is also a possibility that thailand will shorten from 72h, as the uk, the usa and some other countries done recently. That might be at very short notice

There have never been such problems with transit in Dubai.

I went on vacation to Allgäu a couple of months ago, and to save money on the flight, I once again flew in transit. This time the transit country was Dubai. The flight was very long and exhausting, I was also afraid that there would be some problems at the border of the transit country, but everything went smoothly and even no additional passes were needed. Maybe your problem is where you were flying from. Since Dubai determines who to let through its country without a pass, and who with a pass. As my citizenship is impartial to this country, I was allowed to go through without any passes.
