Friends of mine is applying for a Tourist Visa and he said he needs to fill sponsorship and financial details. Is right? What he needs to put in? Thank you

Nationality and traveling from where to where would help.

The word sponsor means a person you are staying with if you do not have proof of accusations. A simple letter stating you are staying with can do it.

The financial proof is the standard equivalent of 20k baht needed for a visa or entry to the country.

What happens if you want to travel around and not book a hotel in advance for the whole period ?

Accommodation bookings are not required for a tourist visa. They are for STV.

Point is if they ever are, just make it up. Sites such as Agoda allow free cancellation.
