Region 1 police armed with arrest warrants visited two luxury houses in estates in Nonthaburi where an online gambling operation was centered, reported Naew Na.

The raids headed by regional chief Pol Lt-Gen Jiraphat Phoomjit come as Thailand debates opening a legal casino.

Opinion is split among the public but there would be no shortage of locals willing to flutter in gambling mad Thailand.

The site busted yesterday - 99fun99.com - had 40,000 clients and there was 300 - 400 million baht being gambled each and every month.

It is one of a large number of busts in Thailand in recent months. These have been online businesses and provincial casinos operating illegally where Covid-19 concerns were a precursor as much as gambling.

Two places were raided ysterday at Ngam Wong Wan Soi 23 sub-soi 19 and at a housing estate on the Ratchapreuk - Chang Wattana Road in Pak Kret.

At the former Jaruwat, 34, identified himself as being in charge and four others were taking bets and paying out on winnings.

At the latter four marketers were taken into custody.

At both locations electronic equipment was seized.

Bets were taken on football, baccarat, slots and many other gambling alternatives.

A 60 member panel has been set up by the House of Representatives to set up a casino complex or complexes possibly in Bangkok, Phuket and Pattaya.

But MPs seem to mostly favor keeping the Thais away and just fleecing tourists.

They want a slice of the action currently being enjoyed in places like Singapore, Cambodia and the Philippines.

That's worth a punt.

Can't understand with access to the web from anywhere in the world why would anybody base their operation in a country where gambling is illegal?

WOW!

See how much money we can make if we legalized it???
WOW!!!

Uh-oh, looks like someone forgot to pay their ‘protection fee’. Or maybe their monthly contribution to the police retirement fund.

In the OP photo is the police General talking to the black panther hunter?
