True , it looks more like we are in the panic side of Covid rather then looking at the facts . I am no denier of Covid , and i am very big pro vax and was/am in favor of the rules since they were logic . Now , we are in a new phase , where a Covid positive means nothing more then a Covid positive , annoying but not much more . The mindset in this needs to change , and it is changing , but it does take some time . People will always die from Covid , same like with any other disease , since we are all mortal , but rather imposing lots of rules , now there has to be only 1 . That 1 is something still many won't listen but it is being vaccinated , and boosted if needed . If you do have that , chances of goes to hospital for ICU treatment is very low and prob is around the same like flu . In low vaccinated countries , Omicron can still do a lot of damage , but for the people having all their vaccinations , it is pretty harmless .

I don't like the soi Bua Khao creeps either, but do you think that Thai people are wearing masks when they gather at garden168, pork bbq etc...? They're just as likely as tourists to transmit covid. I am fed up with the continuous (fully vaccinated) tourist bashing here. In France or UK, people are not continuously winning about foreigners who brought omicron to their country We are exactly in similar situation as in April. Whomever you can blame for it, Omicron is already there in Isaan. 700 +cases according to the BaPo. And as in April, it will be the Thai people going on holiday who will diffuse it in the country.

Popular Post Canadian Snowbird
Thailand needs to understand that "we" are not coming because of all the uncertainty created by the flip flopping of gov't decisions to open vs close for tourists, because of all the added costs and hassles to get there, because of the added risks of being quarantined or hospitalised for false positives or mild symptoms, and because of the uncertainty of the airline industry. But yes, Omicron looking low risk fromall the stats, however what kind of variant could it morph into next? Highly transmissable and deadly would be the nightmare! Though in UK, USA etc they're all reporting 75% plus of fatalities from covid are those people who are unvaccinated! New viruses will always evolve to be more transmissible but less deadly. The pandemic is already over, i just wish the moronic governments would realize this. Thunglom
Unfortunately the Thai authorities haven't listened to advice and have a tendency to look at things from a "Thai-centric" perspective. Covid is a worldwide pandemic and Thailand doesn't always seem to appreciate this. Around the world richer countries (Thailand's customers) have also failed to listen to the advice of science, just hoping they'd get away and stay popular by relaxing restrictions and now we are all paying for it. Thailand needs to make sure they are suitably vaccinated and have the hospital facilities to cope with the Omicron wave. They also need to realise that a major part of their economy (tourism) relies on free and easy access from people all over the world - something they can't achieve without proper preparation. so far they have either jumped the gun or confused the issue with a plethora of regulations and contradictions.
