The Responder  is not much fun..Its unremitting,  depressing and bleak.

But entertaining and brilliantly acted. Plus it did have a somewhat happy ending.

I guess Schindlers List, Sophies Choice, Life is Beautiful or Trainspotting weren't favourites? Plenty of great movies based on misery.

Yes indeed. But perhaps  we need to question  our affection for 'misery porn'. The program The Responder shows  harrowing scenes of youthful  desperation of scallies and their adults realistically  portrayed and  cast which is disturbing for  we who know the area. I don't  do 'misery porn' but I do not deny its role in art from Goya to Dickens nor seek to deny other  people the right to watch what they want.

It's called Life, it's not always a bed of roses.

But that false scouse accent just didn't fit in with my perception of who I was watching as the lead actor. Take away the accent and maybe I'd have found it entertaining..

As a non scouse, or even a Brit, that did'nt register with me. I did use subs though, as I do with most English shows.

FWIW, Yes The Responder was bleak and depressing,

but it was made to be just that.

I really enjoyed it.

I don't know why we have to have these constant <deleted> fights TBH.

You either like something or you don't.

It's not hard.

Exactly right @Will27 . That's what fiction is, isn't it?

Cuz if we agreed on everything, life would be boring.

We don't have to agree on everything.

IMO, what's boring is the contant arguing and mud slinging that's been happening lately.

You can still disagree with someone and not be can <deleted>.

I just finished Y - The Last Man - I thought it was interesting, I didn't read too much of the w-word into it, its was just an adaptation of a graphic novel where women take over the world after an event. I now find out it won't be back for S02 .. wish I had known before I watched the first 8 episodes or whatever.

I started S02 of Plastic Sea, a Spanish who-done it mystery, guy in the black hoodie. It's another 13 episodes of 90 min shows, in the first episode a guy came back from the dead after being shot in Afghanistan, there's a murder and one of the policeman is suddenly having an affair with a Russian expat, whose husband is now gay. Theres really too much going on, its not a great show, but interesting.

'Unbelievable': true crime rape drama. Solid methodical police procedural series...Good entertainment.  Eight episodes.

Yes .. I had that sitting to watch for a longtime, and kept on putting it off. Glad I finally got round to it, it’s a solid recommendation.

Worth it just to watch the black girl.

She was really pretty.

48 hours---its been going for about 32 years now, but so difficult to download--(I am not much of a fan of streaming)  Season 35 has been out from Sept of last year--but can not seem to track down any of them.  EZTV has some of 34, but they really dont have a large audience so seeds are always a problem, they pass it on to TPB . Its mainly crime, but I find it a good watch---seems to come up with info that you dont see anywhere else.

On one of the last ones I watched--seems your car has a memory--no not GPS a memory for everything you do--turn right /turn left---apparently the UK police passed this on to  other police. The (micro chip) memory is very small so it doesn't last long and is overwritten in a few days.

So they are questioning this guy as he reported his wife missing--but the police believe he killed her the day before and disposed of the body, he had switched his phone off the last 2 days. He said the last night he had just gone to bed --slept until 6 am then went to work.  After accessing the car-the police said---No your car boot was opened at 3am---and 15 minutes latter your left hand passenger door was opened---what were you putting in the car at that time.

Anyway -- if someone comes across a download for season 35--let me know.......................

                                 --------And stop arguing .................:w00t:

That was the first series - I’m glad I’m not the only one who watches it.

It’s a weird show, right? There’s always too much going on.

I haven't seen this one.

I'm a big fan of The First 48 though.

Hmmm, Bruce Lee wasn't in the "fist of fury" movie I saw.

I did like the way they portrayed him though, in "Once Upon a Time... in Hollywood". An incompetent buffoon where he had no skills and it was all choreographed.

You saw a different movie then.

Had you looked on our friend google you'd have seen this

The international title was "Fist of Fury." In the United States, the English dubbed version was released as "The Chinese Connection" to avoid confusion with "Fists of Fury", the title for the U.S. release of Bruce Lee's previous movie, The Big Boss (1971).

The Americans backstabbed Bruce over HIS vision for the tv series Kung F-u, so it's not surprising they portrayed him that way in that movie.

Try doing some research before swallowing the B S.

I believe the movie I was referring to was called "Fists of Fury", and it had nothing to do with martial arts. ????

As for the Tarantino movie "Once Upon a Time... in Hollywood", as with all Tarantino movies, they are rarely based on truth but more on entertainment value. I merely said I enjoyed the way that he portrayed BL.

In the first post you said Fist- no s- and this time you referred to Fists- with an s.

I referred to Fist of Fury, so I don't know which one you were talking about; the one I saw or a different one.

Tiring of all the police/crime dramas/documentaries predominant in this forum, I checked through my media library and found one others may enjoy. Marco Polo, a 2 season series maybe 7 years old, that I had not yet watched. Half way through the second season and it's still captivating.

Likely not PC to watch it as it was made by the Weinstein Company.
