All schools and educational institutes in Thailand’s north-eastern province of Khon Kaen have been ordered to close until January 14th by Governor Somsak Jungtrakul. This Saturday’s National Children’s Day has also been postponed indefinitely over COVID-19 concerns.

The closure order, which came after a meeting of the provincial communicable committee yesterday, is applicable to schools, educational institutes of all levels and child development centres, with the exception of centres for special children.

During the closure, administrators have been instructed to hold online classes instead.

Another disastrous year for the kids.

Open the country , let people do what they want for new year!!   And finally punish the kid to come back school

My child did not go to school since June last year ????????

Looks like the same is happening in neighbouring Nongbualamphu.  Son came back from school yesterday saying his school is closed. Independent thinking from different provinces or a one size fits all decree from above?

A certain private primary school in my area in Khon Kaen province certainly was not closed this week with many first year infants at the school

Hopefully all the affected schools are reopening as instructed tomorrow (14 January).
