novacova Posted January 4, 2022 Posted January 4, 2022 I’m traveling from Chiangmai to Phuket to Singapore and then SFO. I’ll have to stay in Phuket for a night and I’ll need to get a PCR test done there before boarding the aircraft. USA requires a 24 hour PCR before departure. Where in Phuket to get this done? Any help would be greatly appreciated
ubonjoe Posted January 4, 2022 Posted January 4, 2022 I have moved this topic to the Phuket forum where you should get answers to you question quicker. 1
Kopitiam Posted January 4, 2022 Posted January 4, 2022 Here is a link to a clinic at 3 locations (Patong, Kamala and Kata-Karon) that provides PCR test in Phuket. http://www.sainamyeninternationalclinic.com/ I am quite sure you can also get the PCR test at the Bangkok Hospital and its sister hospital. 1 1
ChrisP24 Posted January 4, 2022 Posted January 4, 2022 I used The Tourist Clinic on Patong beach road, they have a package deal where you get a 24-hour PCR test and fit to fly letter if you want one. They email both to you and will also print copies of both for you to pick up if you want hard copies. Here is the link: http://thetouristclinic.com/NP-37966-covid_19_rt_pcr_test.html 1 1
Bob12345 Posted January 5, 2022 Posted January 5, 2022 I believe there is a station/desk near the elevators in Central Festival also where you can get one. 1
Thai Visa Member 999999 Posted January 5, 2022 Posted January 5, 2022 My understanding is the you do NOT need a RTPCR test. An antigen test will do in order to get in. This came up before I left WDC in December so unless the rules have since changed, you can do it cheaper and quicker although at this point, you've prob already done it. Best of luck and safe trip back. 1

That's correct - all you need for entry into the US (and for transit in Singapore) is a professionally administered rapid antigen test with a written report - these usually take less than half an hour and cost under 1000 baht, so they're much cheaper and quicker than PCR. (Of course, a PCR result is also perfectly acceptable if you need it for some other purpose and want to kill two birds with one stone.) Also, the test doesn't have to be within 24 hours of the departure time, but just within a day of the departure date. So, if your flight leaves (for example) any time on Friday, you can do the test at any time of the day on Thursday. 1

If you are interested more in your welfare, the antigen test doesn't look reliable. It will be interesting to see if US entry rules are amended accordingly. https://www.statnews.com/2022/01/05/study-raises-doubts-about-rapid-covid-tests-reliability-in-early-days-after-infection/?utm_source=STAT+Newsletters&utm_campaign=936e06e45e-Daily_Recap&utm_medium=email&utm_term=0_8cab1d7961-936e06e45e-153549874
