yes, the numbers are all just part of the grand social engineering scheme. there's no proper testing nor modeling done in thailand. they should be doing mass testing of various areas, then sequencing (to learn more about how it is spread, and which variant subset, etc). they aren't and won't and so it's a guessing game on the part of all of us.

If the Omicron variant proves as infectious in Thailand as it has elsewhere  testing could not occur at a rate fast enough to provide useful results in terms of other than academic retrospective.

If there is genuine commitment the focus of resources should be in completing  vaccinations.

The only meaningful statistics then would be hospitalizations/deaths rather than arbitrary "community samples" of the less significant asymptomatic .

For the 9th Jan a rise of 250, flatlined already, amazing Thailand.

Crazy is what it is, and if this is how it will be, well it seems that they have already decided on what to do and the numbers matter not.

Thailand's more amazing than that, its actually gone down when you count the ATK results.

8th Jan: ATK + PCR = 10,029

9th Jan: ATK + PCR = 9,776

And why the numbers line will continue in a completely different trend then the rest of the world at this point in time.  Shows the reality of what non testing and playing with numbers does, and makes these folks look like tools.

When will Thailand daily new cases have same graph as places like Oz.

Is it the som tom or am I being impatient.

News just reported 8,511 cases for the day, so we have a true plateau, wonder if tomorrow brings the same or a sharp upwards climb, or a drop.  Always a good guess.  Almost like betting either red or black on roulette but then having a green 00 or a 0 that the ball drops in, a true ..rap shoot.

Its interesting to note how low the number of ATK positive tests are.

The PCR testing must be ramping up significantly.

And Anutin has said there is a rise in both Omicron, - and also Delta.

If he is to be believed, then there could possibly be a whole world of hurt coming Thailands way very soon.

Until this statement, I thought the new wave of Infections were from Omicron only, but if there is a resurgence of Delta also, that changes a lot of parameters for dealing with this outbreak.

Believe anything this retrograde says at your own peril. He has shown repeatedly, that his word means very, very little. And few are listening to anything he has to say anymore, as his credibility is shot.

We’ve gone from 3,011 new cases on 1st January to 8,511 cases reported today. (There were also 1,265 probable cases today using ATK tests.) Of course, the real numbers are higher as there isn’t mass testing like in other countries. But it does show us the rising trend. Stay safe.

It's long been evident that the case numbers don't accurately reflect the actual number of infections.  In any event, attention given to case numbers is more or less pointless.  Hospitalization numbers and death numbers are both more accurate and much more important at this stage of the pandemic.

As a side note, forget Chinese visitors in Thailand for a while.

Officials in the Chinese city of #Tianjin say they have confirmed some of the new infections there are of the #OmicronVariant. City-wide mass testing has started. #China

With Olympics only 3 or 4 weeks away.....lol

The Corolympics will continue.  Wonder if they will arrest and deport unvaccinated like what happened to the #1 tennis player in Australia.

Omicron going up everywhere in the world, but not Amazing Thailand.

because other countries are open and honest with thir data and do not try to hide it no matter how bad it is, on the otherhand we have those in power in Thailand believe publishing honest data makes them look bad so they will do anything to cover it up - it is a sign of weakness and lack of integrety low IQ and lack of education - that is what happens when you are put into power rather than voted into power by the people

Wow, so you have just as many in the bank you go to.  Must be a big bank.  The more worrying issue is the infected being matched out right hext to thos not social distancing while waiting for a test.

Just like anywhere in Thailand there is a crowd. You ever think of dialing down your hysteria every now and then?

CORRECTION: Earlier, we posted that Phuket had 416 new cases out of which 219 were from abroad. The national Top 10 also listed Phuket with 416 new cases. Our tweet should have read, Phuket reported a record 635 news cases, out of which 219 were from abroad. We regret this error.
