Welder killed after drunk driver crashes pickup truck into machinery shop in Chonburi, driver arrested

Chonburi – A 35-year-old man who was welding and in the middle of a work shift died after a drunk driver crashed his pickup truck into a shop in the Phan Thong district.

 

The Phan Thong Police were notified of the accident at a shop in Soi Baan Gao 3 in the Baan Gao sub-district in the early afternoon on Wednesday, January 19th, 2022.

 

Police and emergency responders arrived at the scene to find the body of Mr. Apirak Somrak, 35, from Buriram. He suffered from multiple wounds to his skull and arms and was believed to have been killed nearly immediately in the accident.

Not that it justifies this drunken fool, but it does sound like the guy was working out on the street as one often sees in Thailand, a dangerous place to be.

Inside the building might have been, but they usually end up setting the building on fire. Anyhow, in this case, the issue is yet another drunk driver.....

Weren't you the guy so against canabis worried about stoned people driving. I think alcohol is a far bigger problem with driving.  But i guess that is not a drug you like to condemn.

seems that being drunk for thais is a common situation when driving , !!  or on the phone ---  unbelievable

It would be good to know what happens to these drunken idiots after they kill or injure people, but there is never any follow-up. Based on the fact that he knew he was drunk and was a danger to others I imagine a minimum of 10 years might be a reasonable sentence.

They should drop COE and lower insurance to a realistic max $10k, premium would drop drastically. 

Still, sandbox is much cheaper, with hotels from 8k for 2 weeks. Possibly sandbox will be also shortened.

There is also a rumour, that from 1st november no quarantine in 8 provinces, including bkk

Sad story.

 

The guy goes to work, to earn a day's pays for honest work, probably to provide for his wife and kid/s, and doesn't come home, through no fault of his own. 

 

He's a victim of a senseless crime, and I doubt any compensation will be forthcoming to his family who will be financially disadvantaged from his death.  

 

For a country with a tough stance on drugs and gambling, to have so many die on the roads here is crazy.
