webfact
Multiple charges, including causing death by reckless driving, have been filed by Phaya Thai district police against a non-commissioned police officer who allegedly ran over a pedestrian on a Phaya Thai Road zebra crossing with his “big bike”. The fatal accident occurred at about 3.10pm on Friday in front of the Bhumirajanagarindra Kidney Institute Hospital and the deceased was identified as Dr. Waraluck Supavatjariyakul, an eye specialist at Ramathibodi Hospital. Pol Maj-Gen Jirasant Kaewsang-ek, deputy commissioner of the Metropolitan Police Bureau, said today (Sunday) that, besides the reckless driving charge, the suspect, Lance Corporal Naravich Buadok of the riot control police force, is also facing charges of riding his bike too close to the left lane curb, not stopping for people to cross the road on a zebra crossing and riding a bike for which the road tax has not been paid. Popular Post SAFETY FIRST
A cop, you'd think being a police officer he'd have common sense. All these offenses, geeze, how do you stop the criminals when you have cops like this one Slightly off topic, it always amazed me how they buddy up with the taxi motor bike riders, you see them chatting in a group all the time. The taxi riders at times riding around breaking the laws (riding wrong side of road, no helmet) and the cops just meet and greet at the road checks. Maybe this cop was an ex-taxi motorbike rider!!!!! Popular Post Stargeezr
Is this the case where the victim was an eye doctor? My Thai wife was really upset, as she read this in her Thai News. It is a shame when even the police members ignore a busy cross walk area. 8

Popular Post internationalism
it was hit and run. He was arrested a day after, when family of doctor asked for help from public. Motorbike was seized earlier by police and deposited at the police station parking. This officer stolen that bike. There is no registration number on the bike. That's why it couldn't be traced easily. he was riding the fastest lane, so it was the right curb, not the left, on the slowest line. Motorbikes not suppose to ride on the right lanes 2 1
Popular Post brianthainess
The victim being an eye specialist, I wonder if the cop would have had the charges brought against him if the victim had been some poor person, just saying. RIP Doc. Lets hope the 'law' puts the cop in jail for the appropriate time.

Popular Post mtls2005
Different outcome when the victim has status. The Police captain walked, and got the story pretty much buried. ‘HISO’ POLICE CAPT. Popular Post Hamus Yaigh
This was a terrible accident and the motorbike rider is culpable for multiple offenses it seems. But watching the video the poor woman surely should have looked more carefully before crossing? The state of Bangkok's pedestrian crossings means many are death traps. 3

She was just a step or two from reaching the sidewalk and must have relaxed for a moment. Same as I do. She had already run the gauntlet. Sometimes, the motorcycles are so reckless there is nothing you can do to avoid them. Just last week, I got to the bottom of a sappan loy and was in the process of turning to go down the sidewalk and a motorcycle roared past on the sidewalk from the blindside of the sappan loy. Another half second and I would have had the same thing happen to me as happened to this young woman. 1

I reckon it could be something missing from the brain. I'm not a brain specialist but these accidents on big bike or any vehicle traveling at speed in built up areas where pedestrians roam, these people have something missing in the brain, immaturity I'd say has a lot to do with it to.
