E-Cigarettes: Thai public back govt's anti stance, poll suggests

The latest Super Poll suggested that the Thai public were fully behind the Thai government and its PM Prayuth Chan-ocha when it comes to opposing  electronic cigarettes. 

 

Some 2,205 people were polled, reported INN.

 

More than 70% in five categories backed up the government.

 

78.3% wanted the authorities to do more to combat what they thought was a public health menace.

 

77.4% slammed the Digital Economy and Society Minister for going out on a limb against colleagues. 

 

77.5% thought he should be removed. 

 

76.5% backed the financial authorities for their action against E-cigarettes.

 

And 74.1 % agreed with PM Prayuth that the devices should be illegal, not imported, not for sale and not even used.

Strange that as the government oppose e cigarettes , the people agree with it, but I see many smoking e cigarettes... Besides that normal cigarettes are no problem, as so, why should e cigarettes be??

Absolute Garbage, try asking 10 people on the street what they think. Nobody would care most wouldnt know what e cigs are and nobody would call for them to be ilegal.

I like to watch YouTube videos of people out for the evening in Bangkok and they show very many people using e cigs. Strangely, 100% of them using are women.

So just to clarify, it is you who is the superior being, and have the right to tell me what i should or should not do with my body?

 

It is up to you, to decide what should or should not be banned and what should be used instead?

 

Did i get that correct? Any reason why cars should not be banned from the streets? or processed foods?

Because there is some really stupid movement going around the world that kids are using e-cigs because they have so many flavors. Just the do-gooders destroying peoples lives again. E-cigs are a godsend compared to regular cigs

Whatever happened to the situation in the news pre covid where many people were getting some kind of lung infection and dying from that. It was at one time all over the news but disappeared whe covid reared its head.

Call for them to be banned. People smoking and puffing on these things on public sidewalks and blowing out their steamy or smoking vapour on others should be fined.

Fortunately for my health I ignored the law on this and switched to e-cigarettes about 5 years ago. I was then able to wean myself off them gradually and haven't smoked at all for about 4 years.

 

They are a great tool for quitting. Which is probably why they will remain illegal in Thailand since the government collects the tax and then gives very little back to help the people who suffer health problems as a result of smoking.
