Taxidermied Insects

Featured Replies

Hey, I'm looking to get some taxidermied and mounted bugs (specifically stick/leaf insects of the genus phasmatodea) as gifts for friends back home. I know they used to be sold at the night market in CM but I'm not sure if that's still the case during covid? Anyone know of where to get these things outside of night market hours? Looked on Lazada and Shopee but there wasn't much selection, really expensive as well. Any tips would be much appreciated, thanks!

Not sure you're allowed to import/export them. I used  to see them all the time on Lower Suk Bkk. Where are you  taking/sending them to?

Sending them to the US. I've mailed some before with no problem, they usually sell them at tourist places so I think it's pretty frequent that people travel with them. To my knowledge they're not endangered species or anything like that.

As you walk along the Sunday Walking Street, on the left is the first seller (if he is there) and this person is the most reasonably priced but mostly has butterflies.
If you continue on there is a seller near the entrance to a temple on the left. She has lots of different things you will like (if she is there).

Then again on the left, further down, is the last seller who has prices that are insultingly high; avoid him.

There are no proscriptions against taking these into the USA.
