Students of all grade levels would return to school this month, the education ministry announced Thursday.

According to VN Express, the Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Kim Son said on Thursday all universities and colleges have had plans to let their students return to school within this month.

All secondary and high schools across the country have had plans for their students to return to school by February 14.

Sixty cities and provinces have had plans for primary school students and kindergarteners to return to school between Feb 7-15, while Hanoi, Binh Duong, and Dong Nai still need to consult parents before a concrete date for school resumption could be decided, according to the ministry.

Besides plans for school reopening, the ministry has also instructed local authorities to deploy plans to help students catch up with the necessary number of lessons.

It would take several years for students to catch up on the amount of knowledge they failed to learn amid the pandemic, the ministry added.

Schools should also recognize students' mental issues so there could be counseling and psychological support for them after returning to school, said Son.

Prior to the Tet holiday, fourteen localities have resumed in-person classes, nineteen still conducted online and televised lessons only, while thirty allowed hybrid programs between offline and online education.

The nine-day Tet holiday ends this Sunday (Feb 6).
