Thailand has found another source of pride as its traditional dish “Pad Thai” has been included on the Oxford Dictionary website.

Pad Thai has been defined as “a dish from Thailand made with a type of noodles made from rice, spices, egg, vegetables and sometimes meat or seafood.”

The addition of fish sauce, tamarind juice and palm sugar provide the sweet and sour flavour.

Seeing that publishers of the news article miserably failed to give a link to the correspondence entry in the Oxford dictionary, I give it here below:

It amuses me that the dictionary uses a mixture of two of the many dozens of different transcription/transliteration systems floating around.

Absolutely horrible.

Without which it would be a bland plate of nothing.

Let me guess; Pad Thai is a term for Dual Pricing .

This is downright racist.   What about lemmingtons, bangers and mash, sausage rolls,  it should be they are  added to the list, along with  hundreds, if not thousands of other culinary delights.

Before you are once again going overboard with your ultra-nationalism for having "found another source of pride", please be kindly reminded that the Oxford dictionary also contains words like "bullsh**", "bollo**s", "claptrap" and "humdrum".

lemmingtons: do you mean lamington?

bangers:

mash:

sausage rolls:

If you would like to know about any other foods, please try and see if you manage to look them up yourself on

That's only the Oxford learner's dictionary. If you can't find a food entry there, look for other, more comprehensive dictionaries.
