They hadn't. Research at Huay khwang, Asoke and Silom - three busy areas in the Thai capital - revealed that drivers were ignoring the crossings just like before. Pedestrians were left to wait forlornly by the side of the road - even green lights to walk were hazardous. In addition the media saw loads of motorcyclists and delivery riders using the sidewalks. What's wrong with traffic passing through? The red light showing is - against pedestrians, and there aren't any, except one (looks like) waiting to cross. I saw this accident on TV, And the two girls just walk by the injured man laying on the street between the man, broken Bike and the buss, and didn't check at the biker that tried to stop for them. Ah yes, that is possible, but my comment didn't say he stopped at a green light but that he was at the "stopped" position (is stopped). The biker shouldn't be using his phone at a green light - this is a possible danger of obstruction from those possibly behind (not in shot). To solve this problem you would have to address how Thai people think on a far deeper level than to simply tell them that they should stop on Zebra crossings and if they don't people will get hurt. You're honestly not going to solve any of this unless you change Thai people from the ground up. This is so true my wife just thinks differently to western women ,impossible to tell her anything she just knows and will not listen to reason or fact, causes a few rows.
