He never expected this level of unity throughout the world. To say he was prepared for it is naive at best. Its the very reason he resorted to his nuclear ready level statement because of all the unexpected sanctions that have and continue to drive Russia in a very dark corner which it may never get out of again.

Not sure, it needs to be confirmed but it was reported by Ukraine however Bulgaria denies it

I think something got lost in translation, or some Ukrainians posted a tweet to fast.

I can't imagine Poland, Bulgaria and Slovakia will give away most of their MIGs.

I have a grim question.

If / when more like when it becomes clear that Putin's evil army will soon reach key kill list targets specifically Zylinsky will it be better for the resistance for Zelinsky to die a "pure" martyr fighting to the end OR to escape to lead the resistance in exile?

I say the latter. He has already proven his bravery. As the resistance will need living leadership I don't think they could do better than him.

But this may be academic.

If he waits too long there will be no escape option.

Dread in Kyiv as huge Russian convoy advances

 

The first day of March swept in with an icy blast of wind and snow; the sixth day of Russia's invasion unfolds with a gnawing sense of foreboding. Satellite images convey, with searing clarity, the pace of Russia's progress towards Kyiv. A serpentine armoured convoy, some 65km (40 miles) long, bristling with tanks and troops, slowly snakes forward. It's only 27km away.

Bulgaria denied it according to one report. Thats why I mentioned in another post it needs to be confirmed. The Russian news Agency TASS is confirming it but who knows?

Russian column bears down on Kyiv, raising fear for civilians

I think it's clear Putin is insane. Personally I think he's doing a General Ripper and wants to go down in history. He's finished, either by some illness or by someone else's hand, it's just a question of how much damage he's willing to do on his way out. . . In any case, if someone close to the mutha<deleted> doesn't execute him and fast, we're in for a new Cold War at least, and I dare not even think about the worst. yes, I read the same thing.

they will deliver Sukhois from their Soviet arsenal which Ukrainian pilots are trained to fly.

 

it does not constitute involvement of NATO. USSR donated MIGs to Vietnam before and the USA "leased" F-14, or F-15, F-16 to Saddam Hussein before against Iran.

My thoughts are Ukraine will be in a very tough spot very soon, if someone don't end this war.

NATO are not going to provide troops any day soon,

unless Putin cross a NATO line or do something totally crazy inside Ukraine.

 

Sanctions and weapon supplies can only do so much, and it's not something that will end the war in a few days.

Takes time for sanctions to work, and meanwhile people are dying on both sides.

My support are 100% for Ukraine, but i also feel sad for the Russians that die,

because they are just pawns in Putins evil game, and many of them probably have no clue why they are in Ukraine.

 

I hope Ukraine are capable of withstanding the Russian aggressors, but sadly it will come with a very high price if they do.

Ukraine are fighting this war alone on the battlefield, and i can only hope

that some Russians manage to talk some sense into Putin, so this tragedy can come to an end.

there are a few good outcomes that are still possible:

 

very unlikely miracle: the northern column and/or the southern advance get crushed by Ukrainian surprise moves. Russia negotiates.

 

possible: Ukrainian military succeeds in keeping operational capabilities and a base in Western Ukraine.

 

possible: street fights without end. Russians need to take the cities block by block, house by house. Russian losses mount and Putin loses support at home.

 

probable: Russia pushes through, arrests the leaders, proclaims victory. I'm unsure what this would mean, several possibilities: government in Lviv, protracted resistance despite losing the government, or ?

I'm not sure Russia will be able to achieve anything even if they capture the government. and then?

 

In the event of the governments capture... I expect many, many Ukrainians will just continue fighting. molotov cocktails, IEDs, snipers ... it's already ugly and there are high risks that will stay ugly even after Russia achieves its "objectives" of "de-nazifying" Ukraine.

 

Ukraine has had enough of 100 years of Soviet and then Russian oppression. I was in Ukraine for some time in 2003, and people already were defiant vs. Russia (Stalin killed 6 to 10 million Ukrainians in 1932-33), and that was before the Orange Revolution and before Russia poisoning the president and all the other shenanigans.

the people who wrote what you read confuse headcount with "power".

200.000 men with antiquated soviet-era equipment.

they tried to modernize what they could since 2014, but it's still basically infantry in armored cars equipped with anti-tank and anti-aircraft missiles.

Same here, all that matters is who wins. If Kyiv capitulates after 3 weeks of a siege, nobody will care how long it took.
