People don't realize or care that most of us on this forum are retired expats with limited income and supporting our Thai wives and in some cases their family members. So any increases of daily requirements needs to be multiplied by 365 to get the real picture.

Or they simply drink too much. If you cant afford it dont drink it.

Its a minor increase unless you drink a lot.

SO WHAT i can offord it !!!!!!!!!!!!

But why recommend others to pay more, when they don't have to ?  I'm not a CC, well, not most of the time, but I am thrifty with my money.

Your money, want to waste it, feel free.  Think you're one the wrong thread, with that kind of advice.

Could be said Elon . I will buy from makro from now on .

Return the empties in the box and I will have a total saving of 9 baht per bottle .

Based on my average consumption I can make a saving of 900 baht each month

i have to admit that after i found out a tall chang cost 56 bht i had to challenge my thai mate who owns a karaoke and restaurant and was charging me 100 bht. On remonstrating with him on this point he explained to me as i stay at his place rent free and sometimes that includes food the price of the beer was to pay his girls ,seeing the girls were easy on the eye i agreed . 555 this is tongue in cheek but mostly true i do stay for nothing he won't accept anything from me.

I know of a man that owns a bar that charges 100 baht . Nothing to feast your eyes on either . He now and then will say come and have a beer but at 100 baht I am reluctant to bite . However it is satisfying to sit and have people to talk with and that is hard to put a price on .

Wow cheap charly. Do you really expect a bar not to have at least 50% margin on its drinks. It has to pay many other stuff from that 50% its not pure profit. I am always amazed at how cheap people expect products to be.

Price where you live can be different sure . But the price increase will most probably be 3,6 percent all over the country .

Haven't noticed a difference yet only who I buy from and I don't drink much beer this days so 5 or 10 baht extra doesn't matter.

A box of 12 is still 580 at the moment.

I'm sure you can. But you worded your post as financial advice. And, on that basis, it stinks.

NO financial advice was given just stated facts....it is your retort that stinks and i not like

As Russia is world biggest producer of Barley as well as 3rd in wheat and Ukraine is 4th in barley and 9th in wheat, expect even bigger price hikes coming for beer and many more derived items. I expect the beer companies to full take advantage of the current sad situation.

I and quite realise  that a business needs to make a profit . I also realise that if you want to make a profit you need to concentrate on high turnover . To achieve that you need to lower your prices .

I am not a cheap charlie or a cheap charly .

You claim to be an accountant , i wonder about that .

Best way to a good profit margin in modern business today is to lower prices .

I also ran a Bar business in my younger years for 4 years . I learnt much from that experience . One lesson i learnt in those years was how  to recognize a bull artist and a rip of merchant .

Yea right if you had run a bar then you know that 50% on liquor is not much. Just do a google search mate. Because your totally wrong. I think your right about recognizing a bull artist i think i just found one.

Because i shown websites backing up what i said while you come with nothing. I searched about the profit margin on beer in the uk and it goes from 45% to 70% on the sites i read. The same back in my country. 50% is not a lot and if you had run a bar you would have known that. So i call B.s.

Without some links to low margins on beer i don't believe you.

I give a monkeys but if you believe me .

I dont need to show links to proove what i say . Do the research your self

I know the modern way to a improved net profit is to reduce your prices and that goes for a bar too .

You are mentioning countries other than Thailand . Thailand has far less costs when running a bar . Even the start up price is far lower than 1st world countries .

You are really sad when you have to send links to back up your statements

One can play that game all day long on google to find what you want

I only mention what i know . If you dont believe me ok for me

That is the difference between me and you i like facts and back things up. You don't back up anything you blow some hot air and make some statements and that is it.

Your a typical expat wanting things cheap cheap without any realism. Sure the alcohol can be below 50% if you have no girls around, no aircon and an open air bar at a bad location. There are so many variables but you seem to think 50% is a lot and it is not.

Depends on demand. Atmosphere, location.

If you are catering to a niche market then three dependencies you mention come into play .

Location being number one

Price is everything
