When it comes to peer reviewed double blind trials, you'll find there is very little.

It is of course the basic methodology of all quack medicines to publish all sorts of "studies" that claim to back up there wishes - a case of coming up with the idea first and then cherry-picking various stats and studies to try and back up their claims.

I've read a paper years ago that was about how CBD suppresses inflammation in 4 different ways. Unfortunately the person I shared it with is not on Facebook anymore and I can't find the link anymore, but it's out there somewhere. 

 

The main problem in the US until not that many years ago was that they were not allowed to look for positive effects of marihuana. That has since changed and more and more studies on the subject matter will come out.

 

It's been proven already that THC has a tendency to kill cancer cells. It's been proven that THC and CBD work anri-inflmmatory and that they can be used as pain killers. Germany of all countries has even legalized medicinal marihuana and they didn't do that just like that. They went through the motions first to see whether it's actually true. You can bet your behind on that.

Because Amsterdam isn't subtropical, it doesn't have nice beaches, it doesn't have rainforests, it doesn't have Thais nor proper Thai food to the same extent as Thailand does, it doesn't have the same flair, it's considerably more expensive than Thailand and most importantly of it all, it isn't Thailand. I'd rather fly 12000 miles to Thailand to stay there for 4 weeks than spend a weekend in Amsterdam to be honest, but of course to each their own. I can speak only for myself.

Actually tests done by police departments in several American states came to the same conclusion, much to their disappointment. Drunk drivers still proved to be, well, drunk and dangerous.

Had they can concluded that stoners were dangerous cannabis would not have been legalized but the liquor stores would have of course remained open.

Nonetheless the diehards will cling to their outdated and disproven beliefs. That's OK with me as it just leaves more medicine for the rest of us as well as providing cheap entertainment.

Weed is pretty much decriminalized in the UK now (as long as you only have enough for personal use). If caught smoking it most cops will just confiscate it.

 

So I don't see much point flying half way round the world to smoke a joint in a third world country with ambiguous laws and a corrupt police force that could use that ambiguity to extort thousands of pounds from you under the threat of years in a Thai jail.

 

If they made the laws crystal clear and opened perfectly legal, stylish Marijuana cafe's on the beaches then that would be different but this is Thailand so laws are not designed to be crystal clear as that removes opportunities for extortion.

 

Expect lots of FaceBook posts and GoFundMe's from dreadlocked backpackers locked up and 'fined' for misunderstanding the laws and rolling a fat one in Thong Lor.

Yeah, the epilepsy thing totally slipped my mind! I was just about to go to bed when I wrote that post...

 

It also helps to combat the negative effect chemo and radiation therapies have. I remember seeing this Vice documentary on that 7 year old little girl that had gotten chemo and radiation for a brain tumor and following that she became totally lethargic. Her parents tried every medicine and doctor and nothing helped. So eventually someone suggested hash oil. Half an hour after her first teaspoon she was running around and playing like nothing ever happened.

I did read that around 5% of the American population is, in fact Thai. However, thinking back to my time in Egypt, what the Thais hankered after, for their own consumption, was sticky rice, not jasmine rice.

 

And as for the restaurants that they ran there, they were quite happy to serve up Egyptian rice, which was readily available (obviously) and a lot cheaper.

 

And the customers? Well they didn't have a clue of course, which was the point I made yesterday. The average Joe (or Julie) doesn't have a clue where the rice comes from.

I remember the days of the good ole genuine Thai Sticks in the late 60s and early 70s.. Some called it tie sticks and thought it was due to being tied to a stick and not because it came from Thailand. Some were dipped in opium and gave you the best high EVER! Then after Nam was over it disappeared and better strains were popping up in the states (especially Hawaii. Maui Wowie) and Mexico( Acapulco Gold).

            Now they have true "One Hit <deleted>" with just one toke knocking you on your ass! ????
