A pickup truck carrying eight people, most construction workers, in the bed crashed on Motorway 7 in Sri Racha this morning (March 8th). Two people had sustained severe injuries including a twelve-year-old boy.

The Highway Police in Sri Racha were notified of the accident on Motorway 7 Section 2 in the Bang Phra sub-district.

They and the Pattaya News arrived at the scene to find the pickup truck on the road, carrying a variety of cables and construction equipment. The vehicle had reportedly completely overturned and flipped back right-side up.

Eight people were scattered across the road. They had all sustained various minor to moderate injuries. Two of them had sustained severe injuries which are Mr. Prairat Siralang, 30, and a 12-year-old boy. They were taken to local hospitals for medical assistance. It was unclear why the boy was traveling with the construction workers.

They crammed this lot plus 8 people into the back of this decrepit pick up and when a tyre bursts the driver says 'it wasn't my fault, it was the wheel!'

Pure callousness on the part of the driver.

When all along it's the police's fault. They'll fine anyone not wearing seatbelts in the cab, but they'll happily wave on as many as 20 piled onto the back when at a checkpoint.

Well in a way he is, but often just a minion doing as he was told. One has to look a little higher up the food-chain.
