Funeral costs in the area.

Featured Replies

Just tidying up arrangements for when I shuffle off this mortal coil. I have joint account with my partner and a saving account he gets in full when I die. But the latter will take some time. I therefore need to know that I have left adequate in our shared account to cover his needs and the costs of my funeral while the will is being sorted. However, I have no idea of the costs of funerals in the Pattaya area. Has anyone had any experience of this? Any idea how much I should set aside for a basic funeral .. no frills. It seems deposing my body down the waste shute is not an option.

Maybe 40,000 to 50,000.

More sizeable might be handling probate... a court hearing will be needed to handle the other account and a lawyer engaged. I heard the hearing can cost 100,000 baht.

why not just put everything in his account now saves a lot of messing about when time comes?

It depends on the temple and how much of a "show" you want.  Best to approach various temples now and ask.  The big flashy temples will charge more and a small temple with a basic blessing/cremation will cost less.

amazing that people don't feel stupid to spend any money for funerals, better give it to charity, at least your death would be useful for someone !

Was 55,000 about 3 years ago, at the temple half way down beach road Jomtien, for a young farang guy, so that's a ballpark figure, with some food
