PM Ismail Sabri is in Vietnam with other high-ranking officials for a two-day visit. It is the first time that Yaakob officially visits Vietnam since he took office in August 2021, according to the government news portal.

 

The visit came as Vietnam and Malaysia move towards the 50-year anniversary of diplomatic relations in 2023. The two countries have spent seven years as strategic partners.

 

Malaysia is Vietnam's second largest commercial partner in ASEAN, and ninth largest in the world. Vietnam is Malaysia's third largest commercial partner in ASEAN.
