Beer Chang now 4.8%

Used to be over 6%. noticed the other week cans were 4.8 now latest bottles from 5% to the new 4.8%. Chang Classic, not as tasty either. Will not be buying any more, only as a last resort anyway, did they announce this latest drop? doubt it, why do they do this?

Are you sure you are not confusing Chang classic with Chang cold brew? 

The bottles are, at first glance very similar.

Reduction of amount in small steps (once was 680 ml, now 620?).

Reduction of alcohol content in small steps.

All meant to cover price hike as long as possible.

 

You can experience similar with soft drinks, suddenly 300 ml instead of 330 ml.

Many won't notice.

It's not limited to Thailand.

Since the EU allowed arbitrary packaging sizes, some funny results.

Chocolate bar of 83 grams, before 100 grams.

Asking the producer brings up most laughable excuses, "it's for the better taste"

I buy Tapper 6.5% cans for home, surprisingly ok, not petrol aftertaste. Makro and Big C sells cases of 12 for about 545 baht

No chang Classic, got bottles from last 2 weeks all 5% these new ones 4.8, never bought the other ones

After reading this, I've just checked tonight's "dead men" and they all say 4.8%. Haven't noticed any difference in the taste though. I preferred the "old" 6%+ Chang when it was in the brown bottles. Not just because it was a higher alcohol content, but because it tasted better IMHO.

Not only that , the good stuff, the Carlsberg Special Brew 8 % tipple is about 2 quid a can
