A popular Facebook blogger in Hanoi has been arrested for allegedly posting "unverified" information that negatively affected the financial and stock market reported VN Express.

Dang Nhu Quynh, 42, was arrested pending investigation for "abusing democratic freedoms to infringe upon the interests of the State, lawful rights and interests of organizations and/or citizens," To An Xo, a spokesperson for the Ministry of Public Security, said Thursday.

Quynh is alleged to have used social media to post articles and unverified information about certain individuals and businesses in finance, stock market and real estate.

His actions have "directly violated" the legal rights and interests of certain individuals and organizations, and there are "signs that they have negatively affected the state’s finance and stock market," Xo said.

Quynh, a popular Facebook blogger, had recently posted several articles about the cases against FLC and Tan Hoang Minh groups whose former heads are in trouble.

Former FLC chairperson Trinh Van Quyet was arrested for allegedly manipulating the stock market, and Tan Hoang Minh chairperson Do Anh Dung on suspicions of "fraudulent appropriation of assets."

In March 2020, Quynh had been summoned by the police over the posting of more than two hundred "unverified" and "false" articles regarding the Covid-19 pandemic.
