Electric Vehicles in Thailand

I take your point, but everything done by the EU & especially the UK will affect which EV's are available in Thailand.  Nobody is going to make all their vehicles available in RHD just for Thailand.

Let's not forget India, Australia, Malaysia, South Africa, Hong Kong, Indonesia and Japan, just to name a few.

You made a fair comment. I had in mind the MG Cyberster as an example, I don't know which countries they plan to launch it in RHD, I only read about UK & Thailand originally.

The countries you mention mostly have different buying patters, Malaysia won't be buying electric vehicles yet because of subsidised petrol, Thailand leads the way in EV take up in Asia so that leaves Australia which has recently been confirmed as getting the car.

UK is fairly key to the Cyberster.

Some good contributions from @Pib over on the “Are you thinking of buying a BYD” discussion which was started to try and show that BYDs all catch fire in China.

Here we try to keep the discussion focused on EVs in Thailand

What does your post have to do with EVs in Thailand?

ChangAn Deepal SL03, 100% electric car, launched in Thailand at the end of 2023, 79.9 kWh battery, price comparable to C-Segment.

It is expected that the price will be in the range of 1.1-1.3 million baht.

Interesting idea - apparently the plan is to sell BEV below the price pint of C-segment ICE vehicles, chiefly because they plan on using the tax incentives offered by the Thai government for this purpose........giving it to the customers, instead of pocketing it as additional profit?

I wonder if they will be bringing the $103,000 Hydrogen fuel cell version ????

Looks nice, a shame about the Lithium Ternary (NMC) battery though.

A lot of buzz about the BYD Seal.

some more gossip about the price, please excuse the Google translation.

I think the cheapest one has the BYD Atto 3 Extended Range 61kWh battery.

Next has the 82.5kWh with RWD

Then the AWD

When shopping for your EV, YOU really need to verify what the battery chemistry is of the battery pack

Example, MG UK & AU site state the ZS is LFP.   Was very hard for me to verify the TH import was LFP or as listed, simply 'Lithium-ion' which usually means not.

Gtranslate of 'owner's manual' coming with the ZS:

Seems like the Seal is getting an upgraded home charger , the ABB home charger is around 50k single phase or 60k for 3 phase.

This all sounds good, although it's all built into the price.

No mention of window tint/film.

Will find out the price tomorrow. Hope it's not too silly. Test drive at 11am.

Yup, don’t think BYD do the window film freebie.

They have gone back to the Atto 3 level of free stuff after the Dolphin no charger/no free maintenance schedule again.

Clearly BYD needed to reduce the price for Dolphin v MG4 battle and nicked some of the freebies to do that, MG rebuttal was the 100k discount, but they also had to reduce the package to do that, quite a battle of the baht going on here .

With the Seal up against the Model 3  I think the price alone will favour BYD, the freebies package is just icing on the cake.

Let us know how the test drive goes .

Another MG Cyberster vídeo , this time showing some driving.

That is one beautiful car , a bit of Plasti Dip ( or Hyper Dip if you prefer ) on those badges and those silver “ headrests “ and it would be perfect imho.

It just gets better and better, I don't like the chrome badges, but hey, that's nitpicking.

Have the one made in TH already & available, but low spec'd. Which info I can't find, but doubt if would interest anyone.
