Would it be any longer than getting a full replacement ICE engine/harness for an obscure ICE vehicle a decade old direct from the OEM? Obscure, because Corollas etc way outsell the post popular EVs

My chum restores vintage bikes, you will be surprised how we sourced stuff..

 

Can even create a complete MGB or E-Type Jag from parts...😋

ICE’s degrade too, power drops off with use and they need rebuilding.

I am not aware of anyone rebuilding an ICE battery normally if its no longer charging people simply replace

No one said it wasn't out there. The contention is that it is as hard and long to source an obscure ICE engine and harness as it is to source an old EV battery.

When this thread was initially introduced, the anti-EVers jumped on it with uninformed (or misinformed?) claims about range, charging times, fires etc etc. All of these were disproved by real life experiences, especially from @KhunLA who is probably the poster who has done most road trips. My, and others, own experience is that range is not an issue in the slightest, charging times are significantly less than filling up with petrol and, touch wood, neither my EV or PHEV has caught fire.

 

What I find amazing is why anti-EVers are anti EVs. I’m an EV owner but I’m not anti ICEVs. I just know, from personal experience, that an EV is a better option for me than an ICEV. I am anti diesel vehicles that blows out black, toxic, smelly fumes. No one can honestly say they love the smell (although some retards (can’t name the most obvious suspect but I suspect we all know whom I’m referring to) will insist it’s fine and an example of the “latest” technology as per a recent video).

 

In summary, EV owners prefer EVs over ICEVs as they have owned both but anti-EVers hate EVs without even having sat in or driven one. This is a result of  ignorance and lack of education.

Mistral - The S07 interior might have the edge on the ev5 ....the exterior the so7 looks like a baby lambo urus, which is gorgeous...the ev5 felt spacious inside and relatively good quality, outside i thought it looked sharp and mean in a good way..more volvo than Lambo though...i know what u mean about plastics..just rented a VW T roc in uk , VW use alot of hard plastics too but - as a brand its grown on me since my golf R 7.5 stage 1 ....if ev's arent the answer for my driving needs (compact 4wd) at around 1.4m THB....i think a VW T roc R...is the answer...but i shudder at even asking the price...so the success of ev's lies in offering better performance  at a 1/3 of the price ...for what i'm looking at, for personal transport

Yea, we get out and about a wee bit.  Coming up on 2 years (Oct) of owning our MG ZS.  These are our O&A so far.   Yet to have an issue finding and charging while out.   Surprisingly, yet to need to Q up at a charger.   Pulled in once, and both slots were taken, but by the time we peeked at app to find the next, one slot opened up.

 

We just got back from Rangsit, to visit daughter, and Ratchaburi, this past 3 day weekend, traveling both Sat & Mon, and surprisingly, no Qs at CS.  We live about 1.5 hrs south of Hua Hin, just outside PKK municipality.  Hence the amount of 'local' exploring along the immediate area/gulf coast.  No need to hotel or CS, if round trip less than 250-300 kms.  Which easily gets us to Hua Hin and back.  Or the top of Chumphon province.

 

First year owning, put on just shy of 20k kms, with 11k of those, I think, away from the house, requiring charging stations.   Last 9 months, and more than half were put on away from the house, though only drove about 12k kms so far.

 

Also have an E-MC, coming up on 3 years now, and that's got about 6800 kms on it, mostly short trips around town.  Daily park & surf runs with the dog, weather permitting.  They are only 8-15 kms.

 

Google timeline keeps track of our journeys, or used to.  I had to add 2 dots to Ratchaburi area, as no longer can pull up a 'yearly' map.

DLT registration stats are out for July.  1st snapshot below is the DLT summary line for the R.Y.1 category (ie.., passenger vehicles carrying no more that 7 people).  At total of 40,817 vehicles were registered of which 5,468 were BEV (100% electric) which equates to 13.4% of the total.  

 

For a comparison to the previous month (i.e., Jun) a total of 43,147 R.Y.1 category vehicles registered with 5,657 of them being BEV which equates to 13.1%.   

 

June to July showed a further slump in regristrations probably due to a challenging economy, tighter loan requirements, people gunshy to buy with the ongoing price-cutting, etc.

For whatever reason(s) some people just take being anti-EV to the extreme....even to the point of breaking a law.   Maybe they feel they loss a job in a ICEV factory or related industury due to EV sales impacting ICEV sales.  Maybe it's really just "displaced" political hatred against a certain political party who the person believes that party supports EVs at the expense of fossil fuel indurstries.  And some people are simply A-holes on the road which hailand definitely has its fair share of. 

 

One thing for sure though, the percentage of EVs on the roads will continue to grow just like the percentage of ICEV slowly grew over several decades in replacing the horses & buggies.   

 

Now I don't believe the BEV growth in Thailand will be rapid over the coming years as BEVs are a major techlogoical change and also means a person must let go of the ICEV technogoly they grew up with....but that will slowly happen through a transition period of Hybrid EV (HEV) growth and people eventually getting completely comfortable with BEV technology.  Many will just skip the a HEV and go right to a BEV...others will decided to go HEV (still unsure after BEVs)  and then go BEV when it comes time to replace their HEV.    It takes time....we are talking a decade or two just like it took decades to transition from the horse & buggy era to the ICEV era....and that transition period will vary greatly from country to country.

Please don't start posting nonsense figures about road rollers, pickup trucks, tractors & commercial vehicles.

 

We can start comparing those individually & separately if you like as EV models start to be sold in those categories.
