Google Play Store disappeared.

Featured Replies

Hi all, yesterday I got messages saying play store kept crashing. Then a few hours later the icon disappeared and I can't seem to get it back. When I try to open google apps it says google play services wont run, not supported on your device.

I've looked on line a lot and can't find a solution but the thing is my tablet is over 4 years old now, and I am using Android 8.1. Could it be that it is now outdated and I need a newer device?

I have a LG v20 5 years old and a V10 6 years old in my drawer just tried them and both have no issues with Play store working

Can you open "www.play.google.com" in a browser? If so you may be able to reinstall the Play app.

is it a Huawei ?

Why do you ask this?

Long press on the Google Play Store app icon,

Touch the "i" for Information.

Force stop the app.

Open the app.

A justified question as the OP had Play Store earlier.
New Huawei devices are subject to US sanctions and may not use Play Store and other Google stuff.

https://play.google.com

(the www. link does not work for me)

Thanks for that. I was thinking about replacing my 4 year old, faultless Huawei with another. BUT

Sorry. I went on the title and missed this.

In Settings, go to Apps,

scroll down to Google Play Services and press on that listing, Force stop, look down to Storage & cache and press on it, Clear cache

tab back twice, repeat above for Google Play Store.

Restart the tablet.

All Google apps should be in your App drawer, maybe you have the same icons elsewhere as well?

You're logged in with your primary Google account?

Hopefully you can get to the Playstore now. If so, update all apps.

tried all that and it did nothing,. Contacted google and they said I need to contact the manufacturer as its pre-installed. I can't access gmail or google and the icon just vanished. But since I am on 8.1 and have been for four years, I can't help but think its somehow outdated or something.

First time its ever happened.

It's not.

I suspect it's something simple, and no doubt someone could get it working again.

Factory reset?

Back-up your data first.

If I factory reset, do I lose the games installed and the progress I have made on them?

YES!

But this data can be backed-up (copied from the phone to a storage device) and then copied back.

How many games? Which ones?

copy and paste:

back up android game data before a factory reset

into a search engine.
